Part of my work for one of my clients is drivin her on errands, since she cannot see well enough ta drive. She likes me ta drive her 1985 190 Mercedes. It's a dog of a car with no get-up-and-go.
Last week after I had driven her shoppin then home, and out again for a dental appt. I stopped at a stop sign and then pressed on the gas pedal and the car went forward at about 2 mph. Pullin over I descovered No Forward Gears Worked. Reverse still worked. OH Shit! I have a 89 year old woman in the car and we're stuck out in the country. Fortunately we were stuck in front of house and someone was home. AAA drove us back ta her place, and then towed it ta the shop.
This week I find out, the transmission is dead. $3000.00 ta fix it. She decides not ta fix it since she cannot drive, but I have ta arrange ta have the car towed from the shop to back ta her place. She cannot face gettin rid of her car just yet. It's a independance kinda thing.
