Off ta Santa Cruz

I had a trip planned to visit my friend Cobra in Felton, [that's in the mountains above Santa Cruz], before I had the bike accident. I felt my foot was healed enough to go, so on Saturday mornin I drove down.
My usual route, down Hwy 1, is closed at Devil's Slide. I took 101 to SF and down 19th Ave to 280. I thought 82 would be too crowded with folks gettin ta the beach, so I opted for Hwy 17. OOPS! I forgot that half of the Santa Clara valley goes that way to the beaches of Santa Cruz - so off at Hwy 9 and across the hills. It was a wonderfully good drive, not much traffic, it moved well goin through all those nice curves...

Felton was Hot. Cobra, his partner Sandy, ex Kawi and I, all piled inta the car and drove down inta Santa Cruz, where it was at least 15 degrees cooler. We didn't go back up ta the house until 9pm. Sunday was hot again and so back down inta Santa Cruz for the day. I still had ta ice my food and put it up a lot. But I'm healin well from the bike accident. Sunday, we were early at droppin off some books at Logos and met a woofy lookin guy from San Jose, droppin off some cds. Kinda scruffy, tattooed biker type. He was very friendly and if I wasn't with Cobra, I had gotten him alone for some ... activities ....

I left Felton about 5pm Sunday. The return trip was nice goin through the mountains again on Hwy 9, but this time I was prepared. I took Hwy 85 over ta 280 and missed 17 altogether. The speed of traffic has gotten a lot faster, I had a hard time keepin my speed ta 65/70 mph, and I was still bein passed.

It wooda been a hoot ta have crossed paths with bikerbaer and beastbriskett while they were ridin in the area.
