I've been after Duke ta teach me ta ride his trike. Last Sunday he suggested it. I've been around bikes most of my adult life, so neither one of us thought ta go over the basics. I took off fast - too fast and went up at a 45 degree angle, I must have let off on the throttle, but I came down and ran inta the neighbor's tree.
In the process I injured my left foot and will be off work for a number of days, bent the bike frame, and destroyed my confidence.
I feel stupid and foolish, I didn't hit the brakes, clutch, kill switch or let off on the throttle.
I feel really bad about damaging Duke's bike, and that also means there's no gettin back in the saddle until it's fixed, to work on gettin my confidence back.
Duke has been really good ta me about it, no recriminations, and he has ta wait on me. I called the doc and she said, keep it elevated, use ice, wrap it in an ace bandage, and don't walk around on it.
I put my boots on today [Wednesday], got outside, walked around a little and had a smoke for the first time in 2 days. The swelling is almost gone and the bruisin is beginnin ta show. I tried ta take a pic of it, but it didn't show up in the photo. The other scrapes and bruises have shown up too.
My butt is tired and I'm bored sittin around the house. Tomorrow I haveta go ta work for a least a short time ta clean Susan's water filter and take Netti shoppin. At least her dog of a car is automatic.
I'm sittin around in my greasy jeans, wearin a dirty shirt, I haven't showered since the accident so my pits are ripe, and what smell bothers me? - the ace bandage on my foot stinks :)
I'm indebted to
bikerbaer, Scott, Gary and Duke, who have all be very helpful in gettin me ta see that I had an accident and confidence can be rebuilt. A motorcycle safety ridin course in probably a good idea - once I get healed up. There's a lot of work ta do on Duke's trike, which I will pay for, since I was the one ridin it. Duke's got back whatever crap he had last week, he's not feelin at all well and it not happy about it.
