Cat in pan -
To turn cat in pan is a proverbial expression signifying a changing of sides in religion or politics. It has been suggested that it should be cate, the old word for cake, which being baked and consequently turned in the pan aptly elucidates the meaning of the proverb.

Ended up going to a Shibaricon meeting out at O'Hare in the afternoon. Took longer than I had hoped but I got some good work done on a cross stitch I'm working on.
Speaking of, I made out like a loverly bandit for Christmas. I ended up going up to Kaukauna with Andy to spend Christmas with his family. Spent a large part of Christmas day with Mags teaching me how to spin better (which was awesome) so I got a lot of my presents beforehand. I got a t-shirt that says Schroedinger's Cat Is Dead on the front and Schroedinger's Cat Is Not Dead on the back and a Miskatonic University class ring from Cristos. Reu gave me some tea and a Nightmare Before Christmas globe that I didn't have, Andy got me a full set of the Andrew Lang Coloured Fairytale Books (which I had been looking for for about 20 years), and Caias got me the Notebook that I am currently typing on (which is also the only working computer in the house right now). Andy's mom got me a comfy nightshirt, and his sister Maggie got me a fuzzy scarf and hat set, plus I got some beautiful glass ornaments from Mags.
Anyway, once I got home from the meeting I did some housework, then when Cris woke up we got ready and picked up Shawn and Jackie and went to the Circuits reunion at Late Bar. Obviously I wasn't even living in the Midwest when Circuits was open and around, but it sounds like the sort of place that I would have hung out at had I been living in Chicago at the time. It was a fun time, but we ended up leaving around midnight because Cristos needed to be up around 8am to run the cemetery gate in the morning.
