So my calender for the year is the Forgotten English calender. My resolution for the year is to post something to here at least once a day, even if it's only what my Forgotten English was. I have stagnated with my writing and I think I need the catharsis this provides. I can't promise that I will be able read everyone's posts, but I will try.
gilravage -
To hold a merry meeting, with noise and riot, but without doing injury to anyone. It seems to generally to include the idea of wasteful use of food and intemperate use of strong drink... Could we suppose that the proper pronunciation were guleravage it might be derived from French gueule, the mouth, the throat, also the stomach, conjoined with the verb already mentioned; to waste, to gormandize.
--- John Jamieson's Etymological Dictionary of the Scottish Language, 1808
I had wanted to go to Milwaukee to go to Club ? for NYE, but we ended up not having the money for it, so we went to Carriemonster and Ian's for the midnight toast. Ended up coming home around 1:30am or so, had a pretty good time but was very ragged out from work. Went to Reu's and ended up watching a very strange movie called the Machinist. I remember people telling me I should see it years ago, but I never really got around to it until tonight. Very strange little movie, and I felt very pleased that I had guessed what was actually going on about 20 minutes before the denouement.
