I'm fine, just bruised and annoyed. I ran into a cop in a store minutes after this happened and he said that since I didn't have *any* description of what or who hit me and no one stopped and offered a description there was really nothing I could do. Grrrr. The bike might be fixable, we'll have to see. People in cars really don't bother to notice bikes. I always try to be hyper aware of them (both motorcycles and bicycles) for that very reason. I've lost friends because jerks weren't paying attention. And I had a doctor appointment that afternoon, and she said that from what I described happened I should have been a LOT more messed up than I was, so thank the gods for large favors, eh?
Bullshit. A hit and run is still a hit and run. Bet if I shot the cop in the ass, and no one saw a fucking thing, there'd be holy hell to pay. Don't let their laziness dishearten you. Go in and file a report. If they won't be cooperative, contact the district attorney's office. State of Illinois building at Daley Plaza is usually not too bad a place to visit this time of year, and the food places they have there aren't too bad.
BTW - howdy, stranger. If I manage to get the job on the job line tomorrow, and it lasts a while, I might road trip up to central Illinois in mid to late September. Up for a visit from that fool who promises to keep visiting but never actually does?

Sad news, I was 4th on the books for the job, and apparently one of the 3 in line in front of me called in. C'est la guerre.
