So I then had two sick cats. Cesare, still having a No. 2 problem, which I think I made worse by dosing him with the 'natural remedy' at the same time I gave him pills from the vet, but he was worse after the pills and was down to everything being liquid; and then a vomiting cat, most likely Zia, since some of the vomit looked pretty pink, the way it looks after a cat is puking up cat treats, which she got a lot of yesterday. I cleaned up 6 or 7 vomit spots, and the next to last one had a hairball in it, so I'm hoping that's done. (I had given her petromalt, thank God she likes it.) I was also praying the vomiter wasn't Chezzie, since then he'd be losing fluids out both ends. He stopped eating and drinking for a few hours yesterday, so I stopped all the meds to let his system settle down. He was pissed at me anyway, and I didn't know what else to do. I was so relieved when he started drinking again last night--that was way more important than food. This morning he was eating, drinking, perkier, cuddly, was chasing Chiaro all around the house, and best of all, had only used the litterpan once overnight to urinate--no poo, liquid or otherwise! Didn't find any new vomit either but I need to take a tour of the basement.
Sometimes, with cats, you just have to cut everything off--food, pills--to get their system to calm down and regulate itself. The only thing you try to push is water. It's similar to my intestinal issues when they happen--stop the food, don't try to bottle the irritation up with meds, drink water or Gatorade to replace what you're losing and try not to move for a while. Gravity is often a problem for me during these episodes, so I try to get as horizontal as I can to help my colon stop spasming. Sleeping things off seems to work well for me and my kitties--something I learned with Scotty kitty but need to keep being reminded of.
