Vacation Part VIII: Magic Kingdom

Tuesday: Magic Kingdom
The other day we went to the Magic Kingdom park. Here we went on several of the rides, including the Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Mad Tea Party, Buzz Lightyear's Space Rescue, It's a Small World, and several others. Things went smoothly for the most part. The kids behaved decently enough.

For dinner we tried the Trials End buffet restaurant, just as
nifty_trousers had suggested to me. Thank you very much! Because... it was delicious! Nummy pizza, BBQ ribs, -REAL- salad, chili, soft doughy cookies, and much more! Everyone was very impressed, and we couldn't believe we've been coming to WDW so long and had never tried it before! Wow!

Wednesday: MGM Studios and Epcot Center
MGM Studios: Started off with the MGM studios. It was CRAZY packed full! We didn't say for too long, due to how obnoxiously full the place was. We started off with going to the Indiana Jones show to pick up tickets for later. We then went to a presentation on character development - early concepts of Disney characters and how they ended up the way they were (for example, in Pocahontas, Meeko the raccoon was at one time supposed to be  a turkey. Woah! And Mushu was once a 2-headed snake!). Got my photo taken with Mr. Incredible and Elasticagirl. I can't resist The Incredibles. ^^

We hurried back to see the Indiana Jones show. *SIRENS SOUND* //WARNING: INCOMING RANT// Uh oh. What's that? A rant? Here? No way. Please no... huh? It is? Dammit, what happened THIS TIME?!

That's right, we got in trouble with the security again. One again, we went to watch a show, was in "the wrong place" and was told to move. You know what? I'll save this rant for later.

Epcot Center: After the Indiana Jones fiasco was over, some stuff happened. Eventually we headed out and left the park since it was so crowded. We worked our way over to the Epcot center instead. It wasn't quite as crowded over there. We started off by going to The Seas - a large aquarium place with a Finding Nemo theme. We watched a dolphin demonstration (they played a matching game with the dolphins... and they only got about 50% correct). After that, we walked back to the showcase of all the different countries.

The kids started to get tired, so dad took the opportunity to offer to take them home (since he wanted a break too). Jaime went with them as well. My bro, mom, and myself stayed at Epcot. We checked out Italy for dinner, but it was too expensive. We traveled down the rows and eventually came to Japan. Once again taking
nifty_trousers ' advice (thanks again!), we tried Teppan Edo, a Japanese steakhouse where a chef performs and cooks before you on a hibachi-like grill. he steak, shrimp, and chicken were delicious and our chef was superb. After dinner, we did some shopping - my bro and I both bought a ton of japanese candy. I also got some gifts for friends, some incense, and a board you can paint on with water called a Buddha Board. I also met an anime lover and her brother and had a short chat about anime conventions. We exchanged AIM handles and I hope to chat with her soon. We looked at some teapots before we left, and at China I bought a small glass fox.

Thursday (today) - Magic Kingdom, Epcot Center, MGM Studios
Wow, 3 parks in one day?! Outrageous! Started out relaxing at the RV till noon. During this time, niece Colleen was treated with my mom and her mom Jaime to a Princess Breakfast over at the Grand Floridian Resort where she had cake and tea from Sleeping Beauty's Princess Aurora. She loved it! Meanwhile, we guys (me, dad, bro, nephew Cameron) prepared to meet them at the Magic Kingdom.

Magic Kingdom: Once we met up, we visited some rides we missed. These included the Toon Town Fair (collection of playgrounds for kids), Pirates of the Caribbean, Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, and more. While here, a gal stopped me to compliment my foxhat. She then asked if I was a furry. That almost caught me off guard, but I admitted I was. She was too - and a fox as well. She's also an artist and lives in the area, working at Disney's Animal Kingdom. I'm hoping to talk to her sometime on AIM... I'm still surprised I met a furry at Disney. Okay, so it's not THAT unexpected, but still... it's... strange meeting people with similar interests at a place I've been going to since childhood...

Epcot Center: After leaving the Magic Kingdom, dad took the grandkids back to the RV, and mom, Jaime, bro and I went to the Epcot chenter. We ran through the rest of the countries rather quickly. Jamie and I went into the Mexico building and looked at the animal artworks. There she bought a crystal unicorn for her daughter Colleen. We then stopped by a Coca Cola exhibit where they had 8 or so flavors of cola from around the world. China was a watermelon drink, japan was Vegita Cola that was fruity (and its calorie count HAD to have been OVER NINE THOUSAND!!). Italy was a bitter cough syrup tasting drink. Costa Rica had a nice tropical drink.

MGM Studios: After the Epcot center, the three of us rushed over to the MGM studios. Here we only did one thing - we rode the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. It was quite fun! After the ride, the park was closed, so our only real option was to make our way to the exit. We stopped by a store that deals with autographed photos of actors going for crazy expensive prices. After leaving, we went back to the campgrounds, grabbing a pizza on the way. The 'za was yummy and then we settled down for the night. I let Colleen doodle on my Buddha Board.
