Now that I'm not hopping about the world and taking ten trillion photos (theoretical estimation), things have rather slowed down. And I'm not complaining one bit. Hey, I like a little bit of order to go along with that delicious chaos!
Saturday I went to Wolf Park for the first time in what felt like months. Here Monty Salone (WP Staff and photographer) gave a nice slideshow and talk recounting his experiences in Budapest. Here there was a canine convention, I think called Canine Society Conference, or something of that nature. Many lectures and posters on the history of dogs, ancestory and wolves, current research projects involving dogs or wolves, etc. Our Wolf Park poster got a great deal of interest, and all of Monty's giveaways (fliers, wolf bookmarks, etc) we're all snatched up rather quickly. We're, like, popular and stuff!! Yeah! Totally!
After the talk, we went in with the main pack for cleanup and wolf time. This will be my 3rd or 4th time with them. This time they kept Kalani (alpha female) in with them - usually she is quarantined in a side-pen as she is a bit more testy on the hairless apes than the others. After a nice meet-n-greet with the wolves (and some face-kisses from... Wotan, was it? I forget which one came to me), we grabbed buckets and began to pick up leftover deer carcases. I didn't get a bucket, so I helped spot "goodies".
My best find? Those with a weak stomach, skip the gray sentence: a torn out deer stomach discarded off to the side, packed full of squriming maggots. Feel sick? I warned you. I felt like puking, too. Yes, I took a photo. No, I'm not showing it. Unless I hate you and wish to disturb you. *sly grin*
Sunday, I played a Vampire tabletop RPG. Tank (
tankthetiger) was the GM/Storyteller. Also playing was Alex, Charlotte (
ladytremere), Russel, and David. I played as an Arabian fellow from an ancient clan of assassins - Charlotte is a fellow clanmate. We were assigned the task to join the other party members to protect an infant that was prophesized to conquer the world. The year is about 300 BC. After successfully guarding him, he later grew to be Alexander the Great. Who would have thought it?
I then finished the night by playing some mean games of Gunbound. There I met someone that was overwhelmingly interested in Wolf Park and wondered if they accepted internships, and overall seemed like a good guy. I think I may have made a new friend. *smiles*
