Finally
It has finally happened.......one of my schools went on lock down! We're calling it containment so the parents don't wig out but it's lock down. The students stay in the same class all day for their core subjects and only leave for their arts rotation classes. They also move up the art rotation classes to the same floor as the classrooms, so basically the kids can't leave the third floor....we have three floors in the building. While this does force me to teach my band kids music history rather than band......I'm ok with that. The school is open concept so the floor I am temporarily on has no walls.......yes........no walls to divide classrooms. At first I was worried but it's one less Christmas concert I have to plan since I'm teaching at two schools and maybe I can travel the stairs now and not feel like I'm in the middle of a marijuana party......and I don't have to literally chase students around the building that are skipping class who also cuss me out.
Atleast it's not my band kids doing that stupid stuff but they are tough too. Excuse me while I go laugh about my job situation...it's about all I can do. Atleast I get to teach band somewhere and not work some lame job I would really hate like Walmart.
