Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Well, just finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. And I better not hear anything about it being a childrens series. I am fully aware of that, yet despite the fact that I’m older I want to know how the story ends. I just wish I had an excuse like that for my interest in the Series of Unfortunate Events books. Anyways, where was I…

Being the total geek that I am I picked it up at Barnes and Noble shortly after midnight Saturday. Although Ginny was kind enough to accompany me so that I would not be caught alone in a very crowded enclosed space. We spent most of our time in this one section that dealt with Self IQ/Personality/etc. test books (I’m slightly introverted and slightly extroverted; I wish I could tell you more, but we really needed to write in the books). We scurried along however when we realized that the section was right next to the “Sex” section when Ginny came across a book entitled Blow Him Away (A womans guide to…well…blowing him apparently). We shortly found ourselves in the DVD section, which I found refreshingly diverse (They had Cool Hand Luke! I didn’t even know that existed, I thought it was a joke!). We didn’t spend too much time there however, as I started pointing out films I have enjoyed, yet Ginny has never even heard of. After that it was on to books about music. Ginny buried herself in an encyclopedia/directory of every band that has ever existed (she found particular amusement in the band called Circle Jerks) and I went through a book that listed the top 100 selling albums of the ‘90s. I was surprised by how many of them I had, as my musical taste for most of the ‘90s consisted of whatever my cousin listened to and Ace of Base.

Then of course my number was called and I bought my copy. I wasn’t able to read it as fast as I had hoped, given that I now have a job and a drivers license, which leaves me with sister-driving-duties. I did, however, have a “summer project” of sorts for the last book. My parents had me dig a large hole in our front lawn and spread the dirt in our back lawn. At the end of the summer they hired landscapers to do our entire (new, at the time) property up, leaving absolutely no evidence of my work.

Anyways, the book. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I also do not wish to ruin the plot for those that do not read as fast as I am capable of.
