Well folks, remember back when I said I'd do ok on the AP English exam if it could be applied to Brave New World? Yup, oh yeah, essay ownage. Well, not really, in my opinion. But then again I'm a pessimist. Next up is Biology on Monday, better get cracking with that.
Now, you're going to have to bear with me folks, because I am going to get really geeky now. I am summoning all my reserves, so I when this paragraph finishes, I won't be able to say anything else about the subject, even if I wanted to. That being said, today was Free Comic Book Day. Basically, it's an annual publicity move by all the major (and most of the minor) comic book companies to lure the mainstream consumer audience into comic book shops by offering free comics and killer 25% off deals. Naturally, I went. Man was it ever crowded at Comix Zone though! Usually, I'll be the only one in there when I go to clandestinely buy a copy of Sin City. Anyways, each person was allowed two free comics from a limited selection. I rather hastily chose two that caught my attention, partly because I only had a fifteen minute window before I had to meet my parents at the track meet at CNS and the line at the register was rather long/slow moving. Anyways, I chose this Image comic called Flight and a Star Wars movie tie-in comic. [Ahem] Anyways, from what I saw of Flight, and granted it was limited, I liked. I really didn't see enough of it to give it a proper explanation, but it did have a surreal tone about it that can only be matched by the last few years of Calvin and Hobbes, which should be a very good thing for you people who even remotely glanced at a Sunday paper when you were children. Star Wars is basically what I said it was: a movie tie-in product. Which is fine for me because I still have enough of that Star Wars fan of yesteryear in me (nothing like I was, mind you, my obsession with the franchise peaked in the period between the re-release of the original trilogy and the theatrical release of Episode I, excitement dropped sharply after Episode I, then gradually waned over the next few years thanks to another little franchise that
some of you may recognize). Then of course there's Sin City, for which I didn't mind the fact that I had to buy, because it is both awesome and it was 25% off. Mmmmmm, pulp. Ok, I'm done, that was almost embarrassing.
St. Marie Among the Iroquois opened for the season today, I suggest you all take the time to visit it over the summer as my Eagle Scout Project is there.
Well, tomorrow is Mothers Day and my mothers birthday. Go figure. So we're taking her out to brunch at the Wyndam. Last year, it was Dinosaur Barbecue. I swear, her birthday is quickly becoming everyone's birthday. I wanted to get her a gift certificate to Paneras, but they didn't have any of them yet, not until Monday. So, yeah, my mom's getting an IOU from me tomorrow.
My sisters birthday is also coming up, so I got her the first season of The O.C. on DVD. Hopefully now she will be able to forgive me for all the times I forgot to record it for her last year.
One last thing: Family Guy, tomorrow at 9 on Fox. Watch it or be a failure!
