Summary : Having been through a very bad incident in her past turns her into a mentally shaken woman. No one knows how she ended up like that. No one can’t find out what has happened to her because she is unable to communicate. Her life is a dead-end without a way to turn back, she is stuck inside a ward. Until one day, a man named Akanishi Jin passed the ward she’s been living in. Keeping a questionable past as well, the man decides to help her. Will he be her way out from the dead-end?
It’s been three weeks since the day Kame moved to Jin’s house. In those three weeks, Kame has shown good progress with her mental health, she barely holds an eye contact with Jin but she never ignores Jin like she often did before Jin brought her to his house. She has become more responsive to Jin’s question. She isn’t afraid of Jin anymore.
“But she is still afraid of me!” Koki protests to Jin. He knows that Jin is happy but that girl is still afraid of him and he’s annoyed by that fact because he actually starts to like Kame, she’s a pretty girl and he’s not a scary guy anyway. “She always hides behind you whenever I come to her sight.”
“You’re scary. Isn’t it obvious enough?” Jin can’t hold his laugh seeing Koki complaining about Kame’s behaviour, “I think she needs time. Maybe you should change your style. You look like a yakuza.”
Several cursing words comes out from Koki’s mouth, Jin just laughs at that. “Where’s Kame-chan?” Koki asked after Jin stops his laugh.
“In the bedroom. I told her to prepare herself. I’m taking her out today.”
“Oh...” Then Koki asks something out of topic, “Anyway, honestly I’m very curious about Kame-chan’s family. Do you know something about them? Have you contacted them?”
Jin’s silent for a moment, pondering on how to answer Koki’s question. “To tell you the truth, I don’t know anything about her family or relatives.” Jin decides to be honest to Koki about Kame, there’s no point to lie to him though.
“The hospital and even the police don’t know anything about her family or relatives.” He continues. “They don’t even know about her past.”
“What?” Shock is clearly written on Koki’s face. “I think you should find them, they must be really worried now.”
“I know. But how? Who am I suppose to ask about her family whereabouts?” Jin sounds a bit frustrated. “If the police can’t, then how do you expect me to find her family?”
Koki scratches his head, thinking. “I know you’re right. It would be difficult to find her. I didn’t mean to push you. I’m just worried. There’s something strange about her.”
Strange? That word catches Jin’s attention. “What do you mean?”
“You realise that she never let go of that baby doll, right?” Koki starts to explain his curiosity.
“Yeah..” Jin nods.
“Don’t you think about a possibility that she’s married and has a baby?”
“It could be that. Why?” Jin asks again
“If she’s married then she also has a husband, Jin.”
That possibility struck him. “You don’t want to keep her here while her husband is searching for her, do you?” Koki says. “But Jin, I don’t want to push you or anything, I’ll accept whatever your decision regarding Kame-chan. I’m sure you don’t want to separate her from her family either she’s already married or not. Just think about what I said, I will also gladly helping you to look for her family.” he’s serious, Jin can sense it from his tone.
“Ah Kame-chan!” Koki’s face suddenly brightened it makes Jin turning around to see Kame. She’s wearing the dress he has bought for her and she looks good in it, very cute. She holds her baby doll, as always. Jin doesn’t realise that he’s been staring at Kame for a while until he hears Koki’s fake cough.
“Kame-chan you look so cute~” Koki’s squeals makes Kame backing away a few centimeters, she looks like so ready to run away from him.
“You idiot, don’t squeal! It scares her.” Jin smacks Koki’s head. “I gotta go then. I’ll be back before 6 PM.” Jin walked towards Kame.
“Kame-chan, let’s go. Just ignore that scary gangsta.” Jin takes her hand. They walk hand in hand to Jin’s car.
“Why is Kame-chan still scared of me?!” Koki pouts while rubbing his abused head, looking at Jin guides Kame to get into his car. “Have fun!!” Koki shouts before closing the door and proceeds to check on the fridge.

What Koki said keeps bugging his mind as he drives the car to the department store. What if all those things Koki said about Kame is true? A husband and a kid. Sighing, Jin looks at his side. Kame’s sitting on the passenger seat, she’s looking excitedly at the view outside their car.
He quickly brushes Koki’s words away from his mind, his first priority is to help Kame to cure her depression. Then after that, he will start on searching for Kame’s real identity and family. Maybe Kame can help him with that when she’s healthy and able to communicate properly.
The department store is only 20 minutes away from his house. When they arrive, he gets off from his car and goes to Kame’s side, opening the door for her. Kame looks confused when she sees a big building and many people, her grip on her baby doll tightened. Jin’s aware of this so he takes Kame’s left hand and guides her to get off of the car while saying reassuring words.
“Kame-chan, it’s okay. I’m here. I won’t let your hand go. You’ll be safe with me and it’ll be fun.” He shows his best smile to Kame. Hoping that it’d be enough to convince her to get off of the car. Fortunately, it works. Kame gets off of the car, her grip on her doll and Jin’s hand tightened.
“Good girl!” Jin pats her head when she finally stands beside him. After he locks the car, they walk hand in hand to the entrance door. When they’re finally inside, Jin sees that Kame’s a bit taken aback, this situation may be totally new for her. He can feel Kame’s grip on his hand tightened. But she doesn’t try to run away or hiding behind Jin’s back, that’s another progress from her.
“So Kame-chan, let’s go!” He drags Kame along with him to the ladies clothes section. Kame doesn’t say anything, she just let Jin led the way. Jin plans to buy another new clothes for Kame, this time he wants Kame to choose it by herself. He thinks that by bringing her along with him to department store will be good for her. Staying all day in bedroom isn’t good at all.
Jin takes her to dress section, so many cute and pretty dress, yet Kame just stares at those dresses and stays silent. Probably she doesn’t know what to do, so Jin takes one dress he thinks would look good on her. Kame takes a peek when Jin shows it to her, only for a few seconds before she stares at her feet again.
“Kame-chan, please choose one dress that you like best.” Jin says as he holds two different dresses in front of Kame. Kame just shakes her head without looking at Jin. “Kame-chan, please~” He pleads to Kame. It gets him surprised, Kame reacts to his plea. She slowly points out her index to one dress on the rack. The shop attendant takes the dress, giving it to Jin.
“This one?” Jin asks Kame who slowly lifting her face to look at Jin and the dress on his hand. She nods. Jin’s smile grows wider. “Right. Then you should try it first.” He takes Kame’s hand and they walk to the fitting room. He can’t accompany Kame to go inside so he asks the shop attendant to help Kame wearing the dress. The shop attendant nods and smiles to Kame but Kame doesn’t want to let go of Jin’s hand.
“That’s fine Kame-chan. I’ll wait here.” Kame hides behind him when he says that. “Don’t worry, that lady is very nice, she will help you to put on the dress.” Kame looks at the shop attendant. The shop attendant keep smiling nicely to her. “See? She’s not scary, right?” Kame still seems unconvinced but she slowly walks towards the shop attendant. It makes Jin’s happier, another progress.
Jin’s waiting outside the fitting room when he sees the shop attendant getting out from the fitting room. He can’t wait to see Kame with her new dress. The shop attendant tells Jin to walk closer to the fitting room, she holds the curtain to keep it open. He sees Kame standing in front of the mirror wearing the dress she chose. “Kame-chan?” Hearing Jin’s familiar voice, Kame turns around. Jin’s mesmerized by what he sees in front of him. Kame’s so stunning. She’s so pretty! Koki’s right, Kame’s an angel.
Jin realises he has made Kame feel uncomfortable under his scrutinizing gaze. She keeps fidgeting. “Sir, are you going to buy this dress?” The shop attendant asks him.
“uh.. uhm.. yeah.. I’ll buy it.” It’s difficult to speak normally after seeing Kame who is so pretty he can’t tear his eyes away from her. Hearing that, the shop attendant smiles at Kame and motions her to enter the fitting room, Kame refuses. She keeps shaking her head when the shop attendant tells her that she needs to take off the price tag and put the dress inside the shopping bag. But Kame doesn’t want to.
Seeing that, Jin thinks that perhaps Kame wants to wear the new dress. “Can you just let her wear that? Put her old dress on the bag.” He says to the shop attendant.
“That’s okay, sir.” The shop attendant says as she folds Kame’s old dress and putting it inside the shopping bag. After paying for the dress, Jin takes Kame’s hand. They walk hand in hand again, Kame sways their intertwined hand back and forth happily. Jin’s surprised by this. She looks happier with her new dress. And prettier too. The dress is quite expensive but he doesn’t care, money won’t be a problem as long as he can see her smiling like this again.
After 10 minutes of walking around the department store, Jin hears his stomach grumbling. He remembers that he hasn’t eaten anything since this morning. So he decides to go to a restaurant, it’s almost Kame’s time to eat her meds too. On their way to restaurant, they pass mother & baby’s clothes section. It makes Kame stop on her track. She let go of Jin’s hand and walks closer to a pile of cute baby-clothes. She takes the pink one and looks at it for a few seconds, after that she tries to put it on her baby doll.
It’s not a good sign, Jin thinks. Kame’s still attached so badly to her baby doll, these mother-baby stuffs are not good stimulation for her mental health. So Jin tries to pull Kame away from that place. But Kame stands still, she directs her gaze to a couple, a pregnant woman and her husband, whom busy choosing clothes for their unborn baby. They look so happy and lovey dovey.
“Kame-chan, let’s go. I’ll buy you more pretty dress.” Jin whispers to Kame. He holds her shoulder and ready to led her to another place when they hear someone shout. That’s the husband of the pregnant woman. Apparently, he’s asking for help. Jin and Kame see the pregnant woman has laid on the floor while holding her big tummy, she’s screaming and crying. Her face is contorted, showing that she’s in a great pain.
Jin’s too dumbfounded to react, he sees one by one people starts to surround that couple. Some of them trying to help while there’s one shop attendant who’s calling an ambulance. Jin feels kinda worried for the pregnant woman, but what worrying him more is Kame. He looks at Kame, she’s still looking straight at all of this commotion, her face shows that she’s terrified, but she still fixing her eyes on the pregnant woman. Jin quickly steps in front of Kame to block her view. He takes Kame’s hand and led their way to the parking lot. Jin has forgotten about his hungry stomach, his mind is full of taking Kame away as far as possible from there.
When they reach his car, Jin opens the door for Kame before she gets inside. He quickly iginites the engine and drives out of the parking lot. He cancels his plan to take Kame to restaurant, buy more clothes, and buy groceries. What Kame has seen, that pregnant woman, must have been created another shock on Kame. It will be better if Jin drives directly to his home.
Kame is so silent throughout their trip to Jin’s house. She’s always silent but this is a different silence. He can sense that Kame is affected by what she saw. She looks outside the car window with sad expression. Sighing, he can only hope that the incident at the department store wouldn’t affect her for too long.
When they arrive at Jin’s house, Koki opens the door for them. Koki approaches the car as Jin opens the door for Kame. Actually, Koki wants to help carrying the groceries, but he finds nothing on the back seat. “Jin, where’s the groceries?” He asks confusedly.
“I didn’t buy any groceries.” Jin replies shortly. Kame quickly ran inside the house before Koki has a chance to bombard Jin with more question. Koki looks at Jin, “What happened?”
“I’ll tell you later!” Jin rushes inside the house, following Kame. He knows where she will go, to the bedroom.
When he reaches the bedroom, he sees her lying on her side on the bed. She’s hugging her baby doll. Jin walks closer to her but she immediately turns around, leaving him facing her back. “Kame-chan?” He calls her but she doesn’t budge, she’s clearly avoiding to look at Jin. He just sighs, this will be difficult. He decides to leave Kame alone for a while. “I’ll be downstair. Take a rest.” He said to Kame, brushing her shoulder gently before getting out of the bedroom.

It’s 7PM when Jin goes to the bedroom to bring dinner for Kame. He sees Kame is still on the same position like when he left her a few hours ago. He puts the tray on the nightstand and sits beside Kame. “Kame-chan, it’s time to eat your dinner.” He says softly, trying not to startle her. She stays still, unmoving. So he brushes her hair gently while saying, “Kame-chan, if you eat your dinner and take your medicines, I’ll take you to the beach again.” Hoping she would react after hearing the word ‘beach’. But his persuasion doesn’t work. She’s still ignoring him.
When Jin brushes back her bangs and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, he looks at her and realizes that Kame is sweating a lot. He palms her forehead, he can feel that she’s burning. Kame has a fever. First thing that comes to Jin’s mind is Kame must change her clothes. But she won’t be able to change it by herself so Jin decides to help.
Jin takes Kame’s clean clothes then starts helping her to change. Kame refuses at first, but she finally complies because she doesn’t have much energy left to refuse. After he finishes helping Kame, Jin covers Kame up to her shoulder with a blanket to keep her warm. After that he gets a warm towel and put it on her forehead. Kame almost dozing off when Jin remembers that she should eat her dinner.
“Kame-chan” Jin shakes her shoulder gently. He can hear something like a muffled groan or whine. He smiles at that, if Kame wasn’t sick he would have thought that it’s kind of cute. “Kame-chan wake up. You must eat your dinner to get better.” But Kame still keep her eyes closed. Although Jin’s sure that the girl can hear him.
“Kame-chan, I’ve made this porridge for special just for you.” Jin takes a bowl of porridge from the tray. “It smells good!” He’s trying to persuade Kame to eat. Yet, looks like Kame doesn’t want to eat. Sighing, Jin puts the bowl back to the tray and take an apple. No matter what, Kame must eat before taking her medicine.
He starts peeling the apple, cut it into small pieces and put them into a small plate. He put the knife back to the tray and take the plate. If Kame doesn’t want to eat the porridge, maybe she would eat the fruit. “Kame-chan, I’m very worried about your health. Please eat this apple, this tasted better than the porridge.”
To his surprise and relief, Kame opens her eyes, she looks at Jin. Her flushed face telling Jin that her fever hasn’t gone down. He helps Kame to sit then gives her a slice of apple. But Kame seems to be too sick to eat by herself. She almost fall back if Jin doesn’t hold her waist and makes her leaning her head to his shoulder. Kame must be feeling dizzy.
Jin feeds her, she bites the apple. 15 minutes has passed, Kame stops eating when Jin feeds her with the 3rd slice of apple. Two slices of apple aren’t so bad, at least Kame has his stomach filled. So Jin takes her medicines and helps Kame to drink it. After she finishes everything, Jin lays her on the bed again.
Jin’s putting her medicines back on the table when he feels her staring at him. “Just go back to sleep. Try to forget what happened today.” He says. Brushing her bangs from her eyes. He fixes the blanket and put the wet towel back on her forehead. Her body still feels warm, seems like the fever only went down a bit.
Jin waits until Kame falls asleep. After make sure that Kame is sleeping soundly, he checks her temperature once again before he goes downstairs. Then he realizes that he left the tray on the nightstand, the knife he used for slicing the apple is still there. “ugh.. I’ll just get that when I check on her later. Now I shall finish cleaning the kitchen!” He mutters under his breath.

Jin comes in to the bedroom past 12AM to check Kame’s condition. He comes closer to the bed and sees that Kame’s still sleeping. Jin takes the towel from Kame’s forehead. She’s sweating a lot but her fever has went down when Jin touches her forehead. Jin dips the towel into warm water and squeezing it, then he wipes Kame’s sweaty face and neck gently.
Jin thinks about Kame’s past as he’s wiping Kame’s forehead. Kame’s past that seems to come back to haunt her. He wants to find out what has happened to her and to help her to overcome it. But he doesn’t have any idea where to start. What could he do if the police or nurse in that hospital seems to be failed in investigating her past.
Jin looks at Kame’s furrowed eyebrows. It seems that she’s having a nightmare, maybe about her past. Sighing deeply, Jin really wants to get rid of that frown from her beautiful face but he doesn’t know how, so he just caresses her hair softly. Moving strands of hair from her closed eyes. He hopes that it would, at least, ease her pain. After he finishes wiping Kame’s sweaty face and neck, he lay on the sofa near the bed.
He hears a low mumble when he almost drift to the dream world. At first he thinks he only misheard it, but it’s getting louder and sounds more like a groan than someone’s mumble. He wakes up and tries to find the source of that sound. It’s coming from the bed. Kame-chan!. He screams on his mind.
Jin immediately gets up and checks Kame on the bed. She’s frowning and squirming. She must be having a nightmare again. Jin shakes her shoulder lightly, trying to wake her up from her nightmare. But his effort is futile, Kame keeps squirming, frowning, and also mumbling words that he can’t quite catch.
“Kame-chan..” Jin calls her name softly as he pats her cheek. To his horror, Kame keeps squirming and mumbling even louder.
“Ryo...” Kame mumbles loud enough for Jin to hear. “Help me.. the baby.. help!” Kame keeps mumbling and starts sobbing in her sleep.
Ryo?! baby?! Jin is shocked to hear what Kame’s been mumbling in her sleep. Maybe what Koki said is true, that Kame has a husband and a baby. And this Ryo must be her husband? He asks himself. If Kame is a married woman and she has a husband and baby waiting for her, then what Jin does by living with her is wrong, right? Her husband must be very worried right now.
Jin’s thought is stopped by Kame who suddenly opens her eyes. She’s panting and sweating. Jin feels relieved seeing that Kame finally wakes up from her nightmare. But to his shock, Kame screams and pushes him away. Jin falls on his butt because Kame suddenly becomes strong again. Too shock to react, Jin’s still sitting on the floor when Kame already stand up with a knife on both of her hands.
That’s the knife he used for slicing the apple, the knife that he forgot to bring with him when he went to the kitchen. Now he regrets for leaving that knife on the bedside table. Jin quickly stands up. Kame’s still standing near bed with the knife on her hands, Jin takes a step back. This isn’t good. Kame’s losing control again, like that time when she almost choked Jin to death in the hospital. This time it’s worse because Kame holds a knife, if Jin’s not careful she would stab him with it.
“Kame-chan...” Jin tries to gain her attention. “Kame-chan.. put that knife down.” He says softly while walking closer to her.
“No!!! Go away!!!” But Kame screams and sways the knife. As persistent as he usually is, Jin keeps walking closer to Kame, reaching his arm to snatch the knife from her. “Don’t come near me!!!” Kame screams again, keep swaying the knife and accidentally hurts Jin’s arm. Jin hisses because of the sting he felt. It’s not a bad wound so he ignores it.
“Kame-chan.. please put that down.” He walks closer and closer to Kame. Kame keeps a distant between them. She’s still aiming the knife at Jin, not even feeling guilty that she has hurt Jin’s arm. “Kame-chan.. stop.”
Jin sees her baby doll laying near to him on the bed so he takes it. He shows it to Kame. “Look, the baby is here, the baby is safe.” He bribes Kame with her doll. “Kame-chan, put that knife down and hold your baby.” He says again.
Kame hesitates a bit when she sees Jin holding her baby. Jin braves himself to walk closer to Kame. “Here, hug your baby.” Jin gives the doll to Kame who immediately drops the knife and takes the doll and hugs it tight.
“Baby it’s fine. We’re okay. I’ll protect you.” Kame drops on her knees while hugging her baby. She says that while sobbing, Jin can hear that she keeps repeating to the doll that no one could hurt them anymore. Seeing that is hurting his heart. Jin takes the knife from beside Kame, she flinches a bit when Jin is near her.
Jin really wants to hug her but seeing her condition like that, maybe it would better if he left her and the doll alone. He needs to keep the knife and other things that has a probability to hurt her and him away. Sighing, he leaves the room. From outside, he can still hear Kame’s sob.
Kame’s past is still a complicated puzzle for him, especially what has made her like that. But if Kame really has a husband and a baby, he should keep his distant. He shouldn’t feel more than sympathy to her. He walks down the stairs with heavy step, somehow the thought of Kame already having a husband and a baby bugs him.

a/n : finally an update! So what do we have in this new chapter? Kame's new dress, more progress, a little information from her past that can be very useful for Jin, and... Jin almost gets killed. A scratch on his arm woudn't be too hurt XD anyway, hope you enjoy this chapter.

The department store is only 20 minutes away from his house. When they arrive, he gets off from his car and goes to Kame’s side, opening the door for her. Kame looks confused when she sees a big building and many people, her grip on her baby doll tightened. Jin’s aware of this so he takes Kame’s left hand and guides her to get off of the car while saying reassuring words.
“Kame-chan, it’s okay. I’m here. I won’t let your hand go. You’ll be safe with me and it’ll be fun.” He shows his best smile to Kame. Hoping that it’d be enough to convince her to get off of the car. Fortunately, it works. Kame gets off of the car, her grip on her doll and Jin’s hand tightened.
“Good girl!” Jin pats her head when she finally stands beside him. After he locks the car, they walk hand in hand to the entrance door. When they’re finally inside, Jin sees that Kame’s a bit taken aback, this situation may be totally new for her. He can feel Kame’s grip on his hand tightened. But she doesn’t try to run away or hiding behind Jin’s back, that’s another progress from her.
“So Kame-chan, let’s go!” He drags Kame along with him to the ladies clothes section. Kame doesn’t say anything, she just let Jin led the way. Jin plans to buy another new clothes for Kame, this time he wants Kame to choose it by herself. He thinks that by bringing her along with him to department store will be good for her. Staying all day in bedroom isn’t good at all.
Jin takes her to dress section, so many cute and pretty dress, yet Kame just stares at those dresses and stays silent. Probably she doesn’t know what to do, so Jin takes one dress he thinks would look good on her. Kame takes a peek when Jin shows it to her, only for a few seconds before she stares at her feet again.
“Kame-chan, please choose one dress that you like best.” Jin says as he holds two different dresses in front of Kame. Kame just shakes her head without looking at Jin. “Kame-chan, please~” He pleads to Kame. It gets him surprised, Kame reacts to his plea. She slowly points out her index to one dress on the rack. The shop attendant takes the dress, giving it to Jin.
“This one?” Jin asks Kame who slowly lifting her face to look at Jin and the dress on his hand. She nods. Jin’s smile grows wider. “Right. Then you should try it first.” He takes Kame’s hand and they walk to the fitting room. He can’t accompany Kame to go inside so he asks the shop attendant to help Kame wearing the dress. The shop attendant nods and smiles to Kame but Kame doesn’t want to let go of Jin’s hand.
“That’s fine Kame-chan. I’ll wait here.” Kame hides behind him when he says that. “Don’t worry, that lady is very nice, she will help you to put on the dress.” Kame looks at the shop attendant. The shop attendant keep smiling nicely to her. “See? She’s not scary, right?” Kame still seems unconvinced but she slowly walks towards the shop attendant. It makes Jin’s happier, another progress.
Jin’s waiting outside the fitting room when he sees the shop attendant getting out from the fitting room. He can’t wait to see Kame with her new dress. The shop attendant tells Jin to walk closer to the fitting room, she holds the curtain to keep it open. He sees Kame standing in front of the mirror wearing the dress she chose. “Kame-chan?” Hearing Jin’s familiar voice, Kame turns around. Jin’s mesmerized by what he sees in front of him. Kame’s so stunning. She’s so pretty! Koki’s right, Kame’s an angel.
Jin realises he has made Kame feel uncomfortable under his scrutinizing gaze. She keeps fidgeting. “Sir, are you going to buy this dress?” The shop attendant asks him.
“uh.. uhm.. yeah.. I’ll buy it.” It’s difficult to speak normally after seeing Kame who is so pretty he can’t tear his eyes away from her. Hearing that, the shop attendant smiles at Kame and motions her to enter the fitting room, Kame refuses. She keeps shaking her head when the shop attendant tells her that she needs to take off the price tag and put the dress inside the shopping bag. But Kame doesn’t want to.
Seeing that, Jin thinks that perhaps Kame wants to wear the new dress. “Can you just let her wear that? Put her old dress on the bag.” He says to the shop attendant.
“That’s okay, sir.” The shop attendant says as she folds Kame’s old dress and putting it inside the shopping bag. After paying for the dress, Jin takes Kame’s hand. They walk hand in hand again, Kame sways their intertwined hand back and forth happily. Jin’s surprised by this. She looks happier with her new dress. And prettier too. The dress is quite expensive but he doesn’t care, money won’t be a problem as long as he can see her smiling like this again.
After 10 minutes of walking around the department store, Jin hears his stomach grumbling. He remembers that he hasn’t eaten anything since this morning. So he decides to go to a restaurant, it’s almost Kame’s time to eat her meds too. On their way to restaurant, they pass mother & baby’s clothes section. It makes Kame stop on her track. She let go of Jin’s hand and walks closer to a pile of cute baby-clothes. She takes the pink one and looks at it for a few seconds, after that she tries to put it on her baby doll.
It’s not a good sign, Jin thinks. Kame’s still attached so badly to her baby doll, these mother-baby stuffs are not good stimulation for her mental health. So Jin tries to pull Kame away from that place. But Kame stands still, she directs her gaze to a couple, a pregnant woman and her husband, whom busy choosing clothes for their unborn baby. They look so happy and lovey dovey.
“Kame-chan, let’s go. I’ll buy you more pretty dress.” Jin whispers to Kame. He holds her shoulder and ready to led her to another place when they hear someone shout. That’s the husband of the pregnant woman. Apparently, he’s asking for help. Jin and Kame see the pregnant woman has laid on the floor while holding her big tummy, she’s screaming and crying. Her face is contorted, showing that she’s in a great pain.
Jin’s too dumbfounded to react, he sees one by one people starts to surround that couple. Some of them trying to help while there’s one shop attendant who’s calling an ambulance. Jin feels kinda worried for the pregnant woman, but what worrying him more is Kame. He looks at Kame, she’s still looking straight at all of this commotion, her face shows that she’s terrified, but she still fixing her eyes on the pregnant woman. Jin quickly steps in front of Kame to block her view. He takes Kame’s hand and led their way to the parking lot. Jin has forgotten about his hungry stomach, his mind is full of taking Kame away as far as possible from there.
When they reach his car, Jin opens the door for Kame before she gets inside. He quickly iginites the engine and drives out of the parking lot. He cancels his plan to take Kame to restaurant, buy more clothes, and buy groceries. What Kame has seen, that pregnant woman, must have been created another shock on Kame. It will be better if Jin drives directly to his home.
Kame is so silent throughout their trip to Jin’s house. She’s always silent but this is a different silence. He can sense that Kame is affected by what she saw. She looks outside the car window with sad expression. Sighing, he can only hope that the incident at the department store wouldn’t affect her for too long.
When they arrive at Jin’s house, Koki opens the door for them. Koki approaches the car as Jin opens the door for Kame. Actually, Koki wants to help carrying the groceries, but he finds nothing on the back seat. “Jin, where’s the groceries?” He asks confusedly.
“I didn’t buy any groceries.” Jin replies shortly. Kame quickly ran inside the house before Koki has a chance to bombard Jin with more question. Koki looks at Jin, “What happened?”
“I’ll tell you later!” Jin rushes inside the house, following Kame. He knows where she will go, to the bedroom.
When he reaches the bedroom, he sees her lying on her side on the bed. She’s hugging her baby doll. Jin walks closer to her but she immediately turns around, leaving him facing her back. “Kame-chan?” He calls her but she doesn’t budge, she’s clearly avoiding to look at Jin. He just sighs, this will be difficult. He decides to leave Kame alone for a while. “I’ll be downstair. Take a rest.” He said to Kame, brushing her shoulder gently before getting out of the bedroom.

It’s 7PM when Jin goes to the bedroom to bring dinner for Kame. He sees Kame is still on the same position like when he left her a few hours ago. He puts the tray on the nightstand and sits beside Kame. “Kame-chan, it’s time to eat your dinner.” He says softly, trying not to startle her. She stays still, unmoving. So he brushes her hair gently while saying, “Kame-chan, if you eat your dinner and take your medicines, I’ll take you to the beach again.” Hoping she would react after hearing the word ‘beach’. But his persuasion doesn’t work. She’s still ignoring him.
When Jin brushes back her bangs and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, he looks at her and realizes that Kame is sweating a lot. He palms her forehead, he can feel that she’s burning. Kame has a fever. First thing that comes to Jin’s mind is Kame must change her clothes. But she won’t be able to change it by herself so Jin decides to help.
Jin takes Kame’s clean clothes then starts helping her to change. Kame refuses at first, but she finally complies because she doesn’t have much energy left to refuse. After he finishes helping Kame, Jin covers Kame up to her shoulder with a blanket to keep her warm. After that he gets a warm towel and put it on her forehead. Kame almost dozing off when Jin remembers that she should eat her dinner.
“Kame-chan” Jin shakes her shoulder gently. He can hear something like a muffled groan or whine. He smiles at that, if Kame wasn’t sick he would have thought that it’s kind of cute. “Kame-chan wake up. You must eat your dinner to get better.” But Kame still keep her eyes closed. Although Jin’s sure that the girl can hear him.
“Kame-chan, I’ve made this porridge for special just for you.” Jin takes a bowl of porridge from the tray. “It smells good!” He’s trying to persuade Kame to eat. Yet, looks like Kame doesn’t want to eat. Sighing, Jin puts the bowl back to the tray and take an apple. No matter what, Kame must eat before taking her medicine.
He starts peeling the apple, cut it into small pieces and put them into a small plate. He put the knife back to the tray and take the plate. If Kame doesn’t want to eat the porridge, maybe she would eat the fruit. “Kame-chan, I’m very worried about your health. Please eat this apple, this tasted better than the porridge.”
To his surprise and relief, Kame opens her eyes, she looks at Jin. Her flushed face telling Jin that her fever hasn’t gone down. He helps Kame to sit then gives her a slice of apple. But Kame seems to be too sick to eat by herself. She almost fall back if Jin doesn’t hold her waist and makes her leaning her head to his shoulder. Kame must be feeling dizzy.
Jin feeds her, she bites the apple. 15 minutes has passed, Kame stops eating when Jin feeds her with the 3rd slice of apple. Two slices of apple aren’t so bad, at least Kame has his stomach filled. So Jin takes her medicines and helps Kame to drink it. After she finishes everything, Jin lays her on the bed again.
Jin’s putting her medicines back on the table when he feels her staring at him. “Just go back to sleep. Try to forget what happened today.” He says. Brushing her bangs from her eyes. He fixes the blanket and put the wet towel back on her forehead. Her body still feels warm, seems like the fever only went down a bit.
Jin waits until Kame falls asleep. After make sure that Kame is sleeping soundly, he checks her temperature once again before he goes downstairs. Then he realizes that he left the tray on the nightstand, the knife he used for slicing the apple is still there. “ugh.. I’ll just get that when I check on her later. Now I shall finish cleaning the kitchen!” He mutters under his breath.

Jin comes in to the bedroom past 12AM to check Kame’s condition. He comes closer to the bed and sees that Kame’s still sleeping. Jin takes the towel from Kame’s forehead. She’s sweating a lot but her fever has went down when Jin touches her forehead. Jin dips the towel into warm water and squeezing it, then he wipes Kame’s sweaty face and neck gently.
Jin thinks about Kame’s past as he’s wiping Kame’s forehead. Kame’s past that seems to come back to haunt her. He wants to find out what has happened to her and to help her to overcome it. But he doesn’t have any idea where to start. What could he do if the police or nurse in that hospital seems to be failed in investigating her past.
Jin looks at Kame’s furrowed eyebrows. It seems that she’s having a nightmare, maybe about her past. Sighing deeply, Jin really wants to get rid of that frown from her beautiful face but he doesn’t know how, so he just caresses her hair softly. Moving strands of hair from her closed eyes. He hopes that it would, at least, ease her pain. After he finishes wiping Kame’s sweaty face and neck, he lay on the sofa near the bed.
He hears a low mumble when he almost drift to the dream world. At first he thinks he only misheard it, but it’s getting louder and sounds more like a groan than someone’s mumble. He wakes up and tries to find the source of that sound. It’s coming from the bed. Kame-chan!. He screams on his mind.
Jin immediately gets up and checks Kame on the bed. She’s frowning and squirming. She must be having a nightmare again. Jin shakes her shoulder lightly, trying to wake her up from her nightmare. But his effort is futile, Kame keeps squirming, frowning, and also mumbling words that he can’t quite catch.
“Kame-chan..” Jin calls her name softly as he pats her cheek. To his horror, Kame keeps squirming and mumbling even louder.
“Ryo...” Kame mumbles loud enough for Jin to hear. “Help me.. the baby.. help!” Kame keeps mumbling and starts sobbing in her sleep.
Ryo?! baby?! Jin is shocked to hear what Kame’s been mumbling in her sleep. Maybe what Koki said is true, that Kame has a husband and a baby. And this Ryo must be her husband? He asks himself. If Kame is a married woman and she has a husband and baby waiting for her, then what Jin does by living with her is wrong, right? Her husband must be very worried right now.
Jin’s thought is stopped by Kame who suddenly opens her eyes. She’s panting and sweating. Jin feels relieved seeing that Kame finally wakes up from her nightmare. But to his shock, Kame screams and pushes him away. Jin falls on his butt because Kame suddenly becomes strong again. Too shock to react, Jin’s still sitting on the floor when Kame already stand up with a knife on both of her hands.
That’s the knife he used for slicing the apple, the knife that he forgot to bring with him when he went to the kitchen. Now he regrets for leaving that knife on the bedside table. Jin quickly stands up. Kame’s still standing near bed with the knife on her hands, Jin takes a step back. This isn’t good. Kame’s losing control again, like that time when she almost choked Jin to death in the hospital. This time it’s worse because Kame holds a knife, if Jin’s not careful she would stab him with it.
“Kame-chan...” Jin tries to gain her attention. “Kame-chan.. put that knife down.” He says softly while walking closer to her.
“No!!! Go away!!!” But Kame screams and sways the knife. As persistent as he usually is, Jin keeps walking closer to Kame, reaching his arm to snatch the knife from her. “Don’t come near me!!!” Kame screams again, keep swaying the knife and accidentally hurts Jin’s arm. Jin hisses because of the sting he felt. It’s not a bad wound so he ignores it.
“Kame-chan.. please put that down.” He walks closer and closer to Kame. Kame keeps a distant between them. She’s still aiming the knife at Jin, not even feeling guilty that she has hurt Jin’s arm. “Kame-chan.. stop.”
Jin sees her baby doll laying near to him on the bed so he takes it. He shows it to Kame. “Look, the baby is here, the baby is safe.” He bribes Kame with her doll. “Kame-chan, put that knife down and hold your baby.” He says again.
Kame hesitates a bit when she sees Jin holding her baby. Jin braves himself to walk closer to Kame. “Here, hug your baby.” Jin gives the doll to Kame who immediately drops the knife and takes the doll and hugs it tight.
“Baby it’s fine. We’re okay. I’ll protect you.” Kame drops on her knees while hugging her baby. She says that while sobbing, Jin can hear that she keeps repeating to the doll that no one could hurt them anymore. Seeing that is hurting his heart. Jin takes the knife from beside Kame, she flinches a bit when Jin is near her.
Jin really wants to hug her but seeing her condition like that, maybe it would better if he left her and the doll alone. He needs to keep the knife and other things that has a probability to hurt her and him away. Sighing, he leaves the room. From outside, he can still hear Kame’s sob.
Kame’s past is still a complicated puzzle for him, especially what has made her like that. But if Kame really has a husband and a baby, he should keep his distant. He shouldn’t feel more than sympathy to her. He walks down the stairs with heavy step, somehow the thought of Kame already having a husband and a baby bugs him.

a/n : finally an update! So what do we have in this new chapter? Kame's new dress, more progress, a little information from her past that can be very useful for Jin, and... Jin almost gets killed. A scratch on his arm woudn't be too hurt XD anyway, hope you enjoy this chapter.
