Life, Uninterrupted

I was up this morning at 9am, and yet, somehow, it felt like sleeping in. I think I like this new development, it makes me feel a little less like the world's oldest student.

I finished training yesterday at Acxiom Digital; I made a few mistakes on the proofreading test, but not a huge number, and they felt that I did a good job, I just have a few things to learn--which is not surprising, given that I have been doing their particular brand of proofreading for three days. So, I did what any decent new office drone would do, and went and grabbed a bunch of office supplies (including the Office Depot notepads that I love and have not had access to for months, and a white three-ring binder and a stack of red printer paper...I sense a Paranoia game in the not-too-distant future...). As soon as we move to Foster City and I have a real desk to cover with office supplies (and possibly a KoL paperweight), I will be the world's happiest camper.

Today, I appear to have no plans for the first Saturday in nearly a month. I plan to celebrate this, and my recent "graduation" from training, with a bottle of Trader Joe's Vintage Ale (I would've gotten some Old Rasputin or Guinness, but the morning grocery trip did not give me access). Today, in fact, is probably a day of beer and writing, and possibly dinner out later on tonight if anyone gets in touch with me. Should no-one contact me, however, I will happily sit here and have a day to myself, I am not particularly starved for human contact, which, let me tell you, is a really neat feeling. Being back in a work environment is doing wonders for my brain. And I have to think at work, even!

In short, life is good, and I look forward to my first paycheck and a week of discovering just what it is to work a desk job for the first time in my life. It's a little sick that I'm pleased by that.
