late nite ramblings...

So yea… its been a long time since I have written an update, and I’d say I’m sorry, but if I cared just a lil’ bit more, I’d actually do it more often. Its nothing personal to all of you out there (b/c you know I love you), I just tend to not keep up with this. If I made resolutions, I’d work on keeping ontop of things like this as a way to reflect and think, but I’ve been doing that with myself, so I will try to keep all of y’all updated on that. Currently, I’m sitting on my ass, eating Christmas cookies and treats I shouldn’t be eating, drinking (another) glass of wine, and watching Team America: World Police, unrated and uncut. So politically incorrect, I love it. Tis good times…

New life news…
New Years was uneventful. Hung out with B around the apt, watching lots and lots of house, eating Papa Johns, drinking wine (sensing a pattern?) and knitting. Good times.
Christmas was hectic but generally ok. Got some really great presents from my family, and it was nice to spend a bittle of time with the ‘rents and grandparents. It was very hectic in its own sense too, as my dad has been having health problems (and not letting any of us know it) so some major adjustments were made, and because of the care and doctors visits, the house just wasn’t the Christmas wonderland I remember when growing up. Also didn’t get to see the one side of the extended family I actually like/get along with/ can hold conversations with. Fuckin’ church. This whole holiday season wasn’t quite what I was looking forward to. We deal.
Highlights:
- doing a present a day with B for about two weeks… it was a nice way to subvert the Christmas concept. Screw that, Solstice is the way to go.
- realizing that, at my family shindig, someone reads the Christmas story from the bible, and then we dig into the presents. “Happy Birthday Jesus”. Too bad we’re like, 4 months late.

Finals went well, tho were kinda stressful. I will miss seeing the friends I made in French as often as I did, but we still intended to hang out. Grades turned out to be mostly what I expected - B’s in Homo Culture and Anthro, B- in French (which I’m sad about, cuz I went into the final being .02 pts away from a B. ugh), and A’s in Modern Dance 1001 and Gospel Choir. I shall enjoy my last semester in Honors, and hopefully can pull it back up over the next year. Had a really fun Solstice party with the HCLA staff. Amazing food, great conversations, and just general good times. Had a fun time at the Holidazzle with Dan Rump and Laura. Also watched the claymation version of Rudolph for the first time I can ever remember with them. Kind of a scary movie. Had a fun gift exchange time with Laura too.

Other items of note include working a lot, buying way too much from Crate from the after Christmas sale, and of course, the 12-esque hours driving spent trying to finally get B engaged. Very tiring, but it’s a story that fits well with how the relationship has gone, and it was really nice getting a chance to talk to Michael. I’ll leave that story for Brea and Mich to tell, as it is technically theirs.

I’ll possibly do a year recap thing later, but we shall see.  During the rest of break, I’m looking forward to spending some time with Brian Minalga while he is visiting for two days, Kaitlin’s going away bash, seeing Brokeback Mtn, Narnia, and hanging out with Tori, KP and Todd. Brian kess too, but I think his cell phone hates me, as it will ring twice and then never connect  (but congrats on your compie darling- loved the text, haha).

I’ve owed this for a long time, so after this long, boring post, I’ll leave you with this:

Post 5 weird and random facts about yourself, then at the end of the list the names of 5 people to do the same.

1. At the end of high school, I played 6 instruments to varying degrees (French horn, flute, trumpet, baritone, Alto sax and piano) and had a 3 and a half octave vocal range.

2. My heritage consists of an oddly large amount of criminal activity. My moms side: immigrated to America in the 1850’s to escape the law in Germany, from where they stole the money to make it to America; my Grandpa and Great-grandfather were involved with the Chicago Mafia. My dad’s side: had several cousins of my Grandma and a great-uncle involved with Al Capone (according to my Grandma, they never found one of her cousins, and they always figured he was wearing cement shoes in the bottom of the lake by Capone’s Wisconsin hideout; two of my cousins have been in jail for multiple DWI’s, and one for attempted murder.

3. Statistically, as of 2000, I was born and raised in Rusk County, the poorest county in WI, and the 2nd poorest area nationally (Appalachia is 1st). We have 4 school districts in a 30 mile straight line in a county of under 8,000, three factories that supply over 75% of the available jobs, the 2nd highest priced grocery store in the state of WI, and 79 *reported* cases of incest a year. I went to high school with a brother and a sister that had a baby - together (no, it did not have three eyes, and yes, they kept it). I graduated with a class of 87 (which was the largest for a couple year span), and less than 350 people in the high school. We knew everyone in the school, and a great deal of older and younger siblings, where they were all going to school, who parents were, where they worked, etc. Hunting and sports ruled all.

4. During middle school (6th grade), I mailed my girlfriend a bible tract saying how much I hoped she would realize the truth and get saved because I wanted to see her in heaven. My parents have and continue to hand out tracts to trick-or-treaters in the little bags of candy given to small children. Growing up, I didn’t hear the full Santa story/ understand how it worked until I was 6 and in Kindergarten. We always did “Happy Birthday Jesus” things, and have always opened gifts on Christmas Eve, so I never got the Santa + chimney thing (not that we had a chimney either, to make the confusing matters worse, lol).

5. I have come out to my parents twice. I had my first kiss/sexual experience at the age of 16. I am still, under my definitions a virgin, at age 20.
