Yeps, the time we've been waiting for, UP Diliman has finally won the National Debating Championship. Shet, ang tagal ding hinintay ito!
Baguio NDC was all kinds of fun, stress and insanity rolled into one. I think the most memorable moment was when every single one of us in the contingent rushed up to the stage to hug Nico and Claud. As in Yang and
Eris came out of the hall bruised and battered. According to Eris, she now knows how the Wowowee victims felt when they were trampled by people.
Of course let's not forget the fact that my phone got stolen. That's pretty memorable in the not fun way. Yes people my phone got stolen. All my numbers, pictures, messages, all gone. *sniff* And I apparently can't get a new phone until next week, meanwhile I will be using the mom's phone every other hour or so, unless she leaves and I'm left without a phone. So friends, leave me a message (and I promise to figure out screening) with your number. It's very disheartening to think that every NDC I'll lose something expensive. And I sacrificed my hair a lot for this tourney.
Anyway, NDC was at least fun. Of course made more fun because damn! Diliman won the CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
So things I learned this NDC:
- If you think/ feel something's gonna get stolen, something will be stolen
- Having too many jackets is cool doesn't mean you'll actually wear them
- Drunk people are harder to herald when you're in a hotel that's actually a building
- Every lobby no matter where will always be called downstairs
- Tournaments are the bast place to be surprised by people, it's always the quiet ones (and no, not the LJ comm)
- Gymnasiums are no place to show a debate video, acoustics just suck
- Two straight men at a time in a room is the best way to ensure you can still dress up outside the bathroom
- Sometimes it's more fun just talking
- UPD is seriously the happiest contingent evarr
Oh and pahabol... never believe the dad when he says that yes when you get back home you'll get a phone. You won't. They'll punish you first.
