Aren't we all stuck with the choices we make?
So some idiots broke our car window while we were having dinner in Maginhawa and took my work bag (with my wallet and cash cards, calling cards, notebooks, iPod Nano and my trusty all important external HD with most of my digital files in it) and my laptop.
It's really stupid of me to leave my bag in the car first of all, since so many people I know have had the same thing happen to them. I really ought to have brought my bag with me to the restaurant but I was too stubborn. I had the presence of mind to kick my laptop underneath the chair but they still saw it.
Since I had all my press IDs in the bag and might need to get affidavits to replace some of the government issued IDs, I insisted that my family and I go to the police station to report my stuff missing.
I'm kind of zen, although annoyed that not only to I don't have any money right now, but I have to rebuild my digital files, find a new bag (the bag I used was one of the best ever) and start to lug around my 15-inch way to heavy desktop laptop for work (the netbook is a lifesaver, writing articles on the iPad is the worst). I hate that I'm mostly zen because I'm this way from experience. Sadly too many people get used to getting their stuff stolen. I've had two cellphones and two iPods stolen, I hate that I know what to do by now.
Anyway, I'm desperately hoping that I get karma points. Because honestly, I deserve something good to happen now that I've had one of the possible worst.
