Spell Crepuscule, no really it's a word

Let's take a break from the drama of Figure Skating shall we and talk about the 25 Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Actually it should be The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Yes that play, which is part of my theater stalking program hee.

There were celebrity spellers and a random guy invited to the stage. If I was asked I would've freaked out because as much as I love words (and the dictionary is my best friend like Olive) I cannot spell for the life of me. I can't spell rhythm (had to check it with shift F7) or license consistently. I probably would've been the first one out.

Anyway, my biased opinion aside I really loved Felix Rivera here. Sure he had maybe one of the funniest songs in the show, but it showed off his voice, and acting skills. The lady beside me actually said gross when Chip was having puberty related anatomical reactions (hehehe). I was laughing my head off, maybe hours and hours of reading yaoi, and um, watching yaoi has made me more receptive to boys singing about erections (and this is why Toshi is unable to connect to the WiFi in CBCP, sinful blasphemous files running around it).

Really loved Carla Guevara too. I think her Olive is better than her Kate/ Lucy in Avenue Q, even if her "Special" was quite special. Of the other cast members Cathy Azanza was amazles. I love her voice. Pheona Baranda was really good too.

In other words, Bee is worth watching. It's not a laugh riot na tagos like Avenue Q but why should it be. I am now psyched to see Spring Awakening as I have heard nothing but praise for it. I'm still waiting to see if Wicked Manila will happen, we need the huge big Broadway production for this year, recession be damned. Another musical I hope will reach these shores is In the Heights. For me Lin Manuel-Miranda is the ish. So yay for musicals!

And since I'm tired and want to see who's leading the Ladies Free Skate, I shall now go.

And no, still did not get to meet Felix Rivera, oh but the day will come I promise that.

thespics, fangirlyness, musical
