Loved loved the final collections!
I would've loved to have seen how Jaz would make her collection, but that was not to be.
I'd blog more but I need to find pictures of the clothes I liked so I can actually make sense. Basta, I loved the collections. Edit this post na lang when I see the pictures.
My cousin Sassa apparently had her own show in Philippine Fashion Week but the Anapolis Jimenezes weren't able to go. Sayang, it would have been like the first time I'm going to be seated in the first row of a fashion show. Just wait until I get rich and famous, I'd totally own the first row of fashion shows.
ETA: Ha pictures! Long post ahead, placed in a cut so you don't kill me for killing your browsers.
First up was Philipp. I kinda like his idea of using crochet and white flowy fabrics. But um, my beef with Philipp is he's very Binibining Pilipinas. I have nothing against that but that design aesthetic is just so dated. Plus his designs were very over embellished. Like Apples said, "He has to learn to control his urges," which isn't as dirty as it sounds. Anyway, pictures.
I loved this. It's not crazy and pretty.
And this. Although I think it's because the model had thighs which made like this dress. But see, this dress is very pageant-y. But nice.
But this was just bleh. Okay to be fair, good design detail, wrapping the thing in fabric. But know what this makes me think of? Xena the Warrior Princess. I am not happy looking at this dress.
And this next one scared me more. Again, to be fair, impeccable construction, but styling leaves something to be desired.
Next is Veejay's. He's always been a very modern designer throughout the show so it's no wonder his collection was simple but very modern. All the other blogs and forums keep repeating the same words, commercial and wearable. I'd wear some of these. And I'd look okay in it too because his designs are not for those with long skinny legs. I'd probably have a hard time sitting though.
These remind me so much of Monique Lhuillier's designs. She has these flowy gowns in her evening wear collections that I adore. These ones weren't as wow as hers, mainly because the silhouette's are are a tad too straight but it works.
This was nice too. I like want it now. But see it's modern, simple and interesting.
But it was Aries that stole the show. I saw him in Landmark Makati today and I wanted to stop him to ask if he won. But that would've been really weird because I looked like hell and he was having a conversation with someone. Plus, there was a guard near the door baka ma-preso pa ako for assault or something.
Anyway, his designs are not something I'd normally wear. Or something people would think I'd wear because I tend to buy the same stuff Veejay makes but if I had somewhere nice to go to, I'd pick Aries's clothes definitely. It's funny that my style doesn't correlate with the designs I like seeing on Project Runway. I absolutely adored Christian Siriano's designs but it would look ridiculous on me. Same goes for Aries. But anyone that would make a dress that can be worn in three ways wins. (You'll see) What I noticed about Aries's collection is that he knows how to style. Often in the show, people would pair femme dresses with boots which doesn't make the look well look put together. The comment judges made was that he knew how to use accessories but it went beyond that. He had the make up, the headpieces and the shoes. He was telling a story and he was determined to tell it.
See this one. I'd wear this. In fact, I'd be smashing in it. Also, it's difficult to make. Which means it's complicated but it isn't busy.
This is my favorite though.
See how this,
Turns into this.
Yup, same dress, three different ways. The models stopped in the middle of the catwalk and took the middle dress apart. Actually I thought they were undressing her, which would've been a first in any PR show evar.
Conclusion, it makes sense that Aries won Project Runway Philippines.
