Last night, I went to Piratz Tavern with tincow, palliddreamer, drspooky, and vvalkyri, who I didn't recognize as actually being vvalkyri until about 10 minutes before we left. Piratz was a great bar, they had some great drink names like "Bilge Rat," and the staff were all in garb. They had a random band wandering around, too. Now, they need to open a branch in Virginia...

I just got back from an old friend's wedding. It was very nice, and I am so full that I had to unzip the back of my dress in the car on the way home. It just goes to show that I lack willpower in the presence of appetizers. Especially ones that have dipping sauces. My chicken and white bean chili recipe is from The Flavors of Bon Appetit (2006), and is basically unaltered except I added cheddar because it seems blasphemous to eat chili without cheese. It doesn't take very long to make, about 20-30 minutes from start to finish, most of which is spent just letting it simmer.

I had a great time in Pittsburgh for New Years! I met a lot of really cool people, drank way too much, and acquired a cute stuffed Cthulhu for my desk at work. I also had some really, really good Mexican food, which is harder to find around DC than you'd think. I ate an enchilada the size of my head and it was goooood. I had a fun time down in Williamsburg seeing old friends. My sorority house looked great, they had an interior decorator select a new color scheme for the paint and carpet. It made a big difference. I'm glad the house is doing so well, better than it was when I was there.
