So because I am feeling productive here is the wedding post I mentioned FOREVER ago:

Teaser:

So like I said, I had an appointment at David's Bridal today. I had picked out about four dresses that I found online that I liked so I was kind of prepared. Unfortunately they only had three of them available when I went in. The first dress I tried on was the one above, and I was surprised at how I looked in it. Because of my small chest, I felt that I couldn't wear a strapless dress. I've worn them in the past, and it was really hard to try and keep it up, and it just felt like it didn't fit me properly. So I was very surprised at how a WELL fitting strapless dress looked on me. The first one was very pretty but I just didn't feel like it was the one for me. I wanted something more fitted with my hips and something that wasn't so boring and traditional.

The second one:

I HATED this dress. It didn't look good on me and it was VERY difficult to move around in, and it was very uncomfortable.

So a little backstory. When I was little, I always thought I'd get married in a Vera Wang wedding dress. Obviously two of my wedding dress choices were Vera Wang because hey, just had to.

This next dress is Vera Wang:

With Veil (I'm still undecided on if I want a veil):

This dress was BEAUTIFUL. Very flowy and girly and just gorgeous. The train was hellishly long on it though, and it was a bit heavy. Even so, I was pretty sure this was the dress I wanted.

I mentioned before that I had picked four dresses online but the store only had three available. The consultant grabbed one more dress for me and even though I told her the above dress was for me, I wanted to try the other one on just to be sure.

Vera Wang:

As soon as I put this dress on, I knew it was the one. It was fitted down through my hips, it was so comfortable to move in, it's not your traditional wedding dress, the colour looked great on me (ivory), it has matching bridesmaids dresses, it wasn't heavy or bulky at all, I wasn't stepping all over it as I moved around and it's a good combination of vintage and modern, not traditional by any means yet still glamorous. I honestly can't tell you how much I love this dress.

Here is the link on the website for a better view: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Organza-Fit-and-Flare-Gown-with-Bias-Flange-Skirt-VW351011_Bridal-Gowns-Shop-By-Designer-White-by-Vera-Wang

Now, I know i mentioned that it had matching Bridesmaids dresses, however, they look like this: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_One-Shoulder-Oraganza-Dress-with-Black-Belt-VW360012_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-White-by-Vera-Wang-Bridesmaids

They are pretty hideous. I think if the skirt were longer it would look okay but still D:

I did see this one though: http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Organza-Dress-with-Draped-Bodice-and-Bubble-Skirt-VW360018_Bridal-Party-Bridesmaids-White-by-Vera-Wang-Bridesmaids

And I liked them a lot better, I think.

So all in all, the dress I picked is about $600 cheaper than the original I wanted, and the bridesmaids dresses are about $100 cheaper than the originals I wanted. It takes a huge load off my shoulders, plus I can order my gown at any time I'm deployed because it only takes 8 weeks to get in as opposed to the 20 weeks of the dress in my previous post. With my deployment money I can pay for it all up front as well.

Now, onto the decorations/colours/themes:

Let's start with the theme:

I am well aware that if done poorly, this theme can look incredibly tacky. Originally I wanted a lace theme to match my original wedding dress idea, then I saw a few inspiration boards with birds, and I liked the idea of the feathers. Since I wanted my colours to be purple, I was looking for inspiration boards with purple as the main colour and one of them had a few peacock feather accents so ta da, I liked the idea.

Even though I want my colours to be predominately purple, I like the idea of the blues and greens as well, which is why I saved a lot of inspiration boards with all those colours. I like items from all of them, so I would like to see how well they will go with each other.

For the above picture, I like the feather wreath and the boutonniere on the tuxedo.

I love the bouquet in this one.

The bouquet again, and the garter belts.

I like the peacock on the cake

The lower left table set up and the draping on the back of the chairs in the picture right next to it.

Love the table set up, the boutonniere on the suit, and the cake.
