I'm in SoCal to attend my 20th anniversary high school reunion. I flew in yesterday. Spent 5 hours 2 seats removed from a screaming infant. I grabbed a sushi dinner at Mashiko and drove to Anaheim. Funny thing: the rental car's interior lights up automatically in the dark, but the headlights don't come on by themselves. I found this out after driving in the dark for about 1.5 hours, thinking they were on because there was so much more light on the freeway than I've become used to back home. I figured out how to turn them on (it's not the same as in any of the cars I've owned) about 1 mile before I had to exit the freeway. Apologies to anyone on the 605 or 91 freeways I may have ticked off or scared last night.
I'm staying at my sister Karen's home. I've displaced my nephew William, who is spending 2 nights in a sleeping bag. I'm on a twin bed in a small room full of Dr. Seuss books. The walls are covered in Spider-Man decals. There's a cap on the dresser which is a combination of an R2-D2 dome and a pair of Mickey Mouse ears. The curtains are Clone Wars, the bedsheets are classic, episode IV Star Wars, and the wall over the bed is dominated by a decal of the second Death Star from Return of the Jedi.
