I'm awake at 9am. What the hell?!

I'm halfway through my second week at home and I'm sort of sad to say it hasn't been much of a vacation. Our apartment complex has conveniently decided to renovate the apartment below ours. So at 7:30 or 8am, they begin the drilling, sawing, nailing, hammering, and "construction worker chattering" that even my 33 decibel earplugs just cannot tune out.

What would have been nice is to not have these same workers coming into my apartment when I'm near stark naked because some appliance in our bathroom is leaking down into the apartment below us. It was 9am and they knocked, but I was like a deer in headlights in bed, hiding under the covers, before I jumped out of bed and threw on my robe ASAP. I don't even know why they bothered knocking since he just opened the door with a copy of our key a second later. First, they thought the toilet was leaking. Then they thought the bathtub was leaking and discovered a blown gasket. But after this incident, I told Mike I hated renting. I hated the fact that maintenance could just walk into our apartment anytime just because they had a key.

Today is Day 8 of renovation and dontcha know - they were hammering at 8am, but it's now 9am and they haven't done anything noisy in the past 15-20 minutes. What the fuck! Thanks for banging early on motherfuckers!

Yeah, so needless to say, I haven't been able to sleep in. There's only so many days in life that you can really sleep until 10 or 11am. Or noon. Or one. Ahhh, those were the days....my high school summers. One in the afternoon and I was still asleep. I had these great blinds in my bedroom that blocked out the light and I'd just sleep forever. And my puppy would be sleeping at the end of my bed. Life was sooo good then!

I'm really anxious to find out what school I'm going to be assigned to do my student teaching. The earliest I was supposed to find out was late October, but now it's mid-November and I'm biting my nails in anticipation! I'm still not quite living in the present. I really can't wait until May or June to submit my application for my teacher certification AND get a teaching job for September. May and June are going to be killer, because all of my clearances will be outdated in July so I literally HAVE to get a teaching job by May/June, otherwise I have to do FBI/criminal background check/ TB test/ Child Abuse Clearances ALL OVER AGAIN!!!

Well, I'm awake now and it's time to exercise. I've lost the 3-4 pounds I gained during October. Hooray! October was a bad month - too much birthday cake :-D I love birthday cake. Mmmmm....birthday cake... (Sometimes I want to buy one from the grocery store even though it isn't anyone's birthday....) LOL!
