Lex Luther Returns

Superman Returns opened to great reviews everywhere. I managed to grab tickets at an Imax3D to go watch the movie with a few friends this weekend.

Bryan Singer creates a film that is clearly a throw-back to the times of Reeve, with the obvious technological advancement. There are just 4 scenes in the movie in 3d, but the first one was worth every single penny of the $13 ticket. Kevin Spacey steals the show as Lex Luther, he is brilliantly sarcastic and funny when necessary. Brandon Routh is terrific as Superman, and his similarity in looks to Reeve is striking.

If there is one flaw in the movie, it is its pace. The film is extremely slow in parts, and tad too long. Films like these have to keep the viewer engaged through-out to work. But, despite that, it is immensely enjoyable when watched at an IMAX.

On the other hand, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are out with the eagerly awaited follow-up to the brilliant Kal Ho Na Ho with Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. And the result, though immensely enjoyable, is a bit of a let-down when compared to KHNH. KANK lacks seriously in originality - the title track's beats are the exact same ones used in the wedding song of KHNH. The track Mitwa, though, is absolutely brilliant and Shafqat Ali's voice is awesome. Looking forward to the movie.
