What am I to learn here, God?
That a heart is strong?
That it can survive?
Surely You must understand what it goes through.
It squeezes with joy
When he’s around.
And beats a little faster
When he smiles.

Yet in my room,
On my pillow,
My tears flow,
Unchecked, unaccounted for.
Am I paying for something?
What am I to learn here, God?
I tire of sameness,
Complacency,
Inertness.

Create in me
A pure heart, O Lord.
One that is wholly dedicated
To You.
To Your Love.
Fill me up until I overflow.
Cover me and suspend me in Your arms.

For You know my heart,
You count my tears,
You carry me when I am weak,
And guide me when I am lost.

Create in me
A pure heart, O Lord.
Wholly dedicated to You.
To Your Love.
That I may not yearn for him,
Or hurt for him,
Or cry for him,
Or miss him.

Create in me
A pure heart, O Lord
Wholly dedicated to You.
To Your Love.
That I may fully and completely love You.
