Ooc log: Haru's letter

Aug 07, 2009 17:26

Haru throws another crumpled piece of paper to the floor and sighs in frustration. Why can't I do this?! He looks up as he hears someone at the door. "Come in." He mumbles glumly.

Gokudera isn't the kind of guy to go back on his word. Ever. He grits his teeth and pushes the eathbender's door open. "I have the letters." He says plainly, lifting up a small cardboard box. He takes a moment to look around at the mess of paper. "So it's going well..." He mutters sarcastically, bending to pick up a discarded note.

"Oh! I'm so glad you're here. I just don't know what to say..." He blushes, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment.

"Really?" He hands the older teen the box. "Have you talked to him?" The letter he opens almost looks like a blank piece of paper save for 'Dear Ayame.' He sighs and drops it in the nearest waistbin.

"I tried but I don't think he really even notices me. I even told him how pretty I thought he was but..." He holds up his hands, then lets them drop to his lap. "Nothing." Reaching for the box the silver haired boy brought,  he grabs a letter and starts reading. "Gods... I don't think I could ever say anything like this! What's 'doggy style'?"

"WHAT?!" He jumps and snatches the letter away, giving it a read over before rolling his eyes. Gokudera's pretty sure Yamamoto wrote that one to mess with him. "It's not important right now! Just... be honest.. or.." He grabs a pink piece of paper and unfolds it, reading over it with a bored expression, "Something."

He takes a deep breath and resolves himself to this. "Ok. Be honest." Taking a fresh piece of paper he begins again, narrating as he writes. "Dear Ayame, I think you are the most beautiful guy- wait no... scratch that... man I have ever seen. I would really like to date yo- ok no that's... " He buries his head in his hands and sighs. "I can't do this."

Gokudera thinks about how Yamamoto started their relationship and he wants to blow something up. "Make it simple. Be honest. You're over-thinking it..." He looms over Haru's shoulder and purses his lips. "Do you even know if he likes guys like you?"

He shakes his head woefully. "No..."

"You just think he looks nice. How do you know he isn't just some great asshole?" Gokudera crosses his arms and nods as though he knows all.

"I read his posts! He seems very nice and it's not just how he looks! You look nice too and I don't want to date you!" Indignance fills Haru. He knows an asshole when he meets one!

"Tch." Gokudera gives him a rather solid glare before turnign his attention back to the paper. "Do you want to get to know him better?"

"Of course! That's the point, isn't it?" Haru is getting more and more irritated. Gokudera said he'd help him.

"Then why don't you say that?" Gokudera says. He wants to knock this guy upside his rather thick-looking skull.

Haru huffs, blowing his long bangs out of his eyes. "Fine." He begins writing a new letter, again narrating as he does. "Dear Ayame, I really would like to get to know you better. I like you a... lot... and..." His face is growing hotter and hotter as he tries to articulate his feelings with the other boy watching.

"Did you have anywhere in mind you wanted to see him or something?" Gokudera has never been on a date. He's not an expert on asking anyone out. People just bother him and he deals with it. All of the letters he has are of girls (for the most part) asking him to movies or the park. He wonders if anyone ever wrote one to his boss.

Haru taps the pencil against his lips for a second. "I did ask him if we could have dinner and then take a walk. Do you think I should ask again? And where is a good place to go?" He looks a bit more hopeful and smiles up at Gokudera. Now they were getting somewhere.

"Did he say yes?" Gokudera pouts and looks away from the smile. "And... I don't know where you could take him. You can figure that part out."

"He did say yes but I'm not sure if he understood I was asking him out." Haru smiles a bit more at Gokudera's pout. It reminds him of little Gokudera. "I don't know anything about this place. Surely you know somewhere?"

"Tch, is getting together with this guy the only thing you have in mind?! What if he doesn't even like guys?!" Gokudera feels a little offended with the way Haru just smiles pleasantly at him. His green eyes narrow, "And what the hell makes you think I know of good dating places around here?!"

Haru's smile drops. "I don't know if he likes guys. I don't know anything. I just... wanted..." He shakes his head sadly and offers up a small half smile. "I asked you because you were nice and you're handsome. I thought you would know since you were so sweet with Miranda."

His jaw falls and he just stares at Haru. "Just ask him on a little date and go from there!" Gokudera doesn't like that he's pairing him up with Miranda. "No flattering. I was six and she was nice to me. It doesn't count the same way, got it?" He's embarrassed now because he doesn't want to admit he's never been on a date before. Not to this guy who keeps looking at him like he's worth more than he should be.

"You may have been six but you still care about her and the good relationship you had is still there. I can tell." He reaches for another sheet of paper, not noticing Gokudera's expression. "I'll just be honest and ask him out on a date like you said."

"We're just friends." Gokudera says and he can swear there is a little steam curling off the top of his own head. "And you don't know a damn thing." He's really itching to punch him... just a little bit. "No one likes a liar. So if you're going to say something, don't make it all flowery. Poor guy doesn't need to puke."

Haru glances up at him out of the corner of his eye. Someone is fooling themselves. "If you say so." He starts writing yet again. "Dear Ayame, I really like you and would like to have dinner with you and take a walk like we agreed. It would be a date, ok?" He slaps his hand down on the paper. "There! How's that?"

He hardly looks at it, then glances to Haru, then rolls his eyes and picks it up. "Hmmm I hope he accepts. For your sake." Gokudera wouldn't. Frankly, he'd be a little weirded out by a strange note and would prefer just running into the guy, but that was him. "I don't think I know this Ayame person." The teen hands the note back, pointing to the bottom for a signature.

He smiles brightly and signs his name with sharp, firm strokes. "Thank you, Gokudera! I really appreciate you doing this. You're a great guy, you know that?"

"Obviously you don't know that many people around here..." Gokudera slumps, teeth gritting slightly. He grabs for a cigarette. The silver-haired teen kicks a paper ball out of his way as he walks back to the door. "Once you do, you'll be better off."

"I don't need to know everyone to know that you're one of the nice ones. Thanks again, I'll let you know what happens." Haru watches him head to the door, smiling softly. Gokudera has a bigger heart than he thinks. He hopes he realizes that one day.

This guy is getting way too close for comfort. He can't help but think it's going to end up very painful. "Shut up," he groans and walks out, a trail of smoke lingering behind him.

Haru seals the letter into an envelope and carefully inscribes Ayame's name on it. He heads out of his room waving smoke out of his face and takes a deep breath before sliding it under the door with the plaque bearing the name of his crush. Filled with nervous energy he makes his way to the greenhouse. Might as well pick up that lime green apple while he waits to see if his attempt at romance finds success.
Gokudera wonders why so many people -including his younger self- assume Miranda is his girlfriend. Has he really let her get that close to him? He doesn't need her, does he? He worries the filter of his cigarette some as he climbs back onto the Vongola
