I just met my friend Miwa from Hokkaido! Actually, she's not technically from Hokkaido anymore since she moved after she got married, but most of my memories of her are from there. We ate Hell Ramen together, I went to her wedding, and she cock-blocked me from the second or third most beautiful girl I've ever met. The memories!
But tonight was grand old fun! I showed her around downtown Yokohama and quickly got lost before she found the restaurant we were looking for even though I was using the GPS on the iPhone. Shamed, I chucked the worthless thing into the nearby river (no I didn't, how could I be writing this now?).
We talked about everything including how her married life is (lots of fighting, she laments, but I reminded her of the lesson of Jimi Hendrix's 51st Anniversery that marriage gets better as time goes on).
We each also talked about other things like our respective efforts to adjust to our new surroundings since leaving Hokkaido, but mostly I showed her some pictures I had in my phone and we laughed at all my mishaps. She said I'm a careless person that makes lots of little mistakes, which is true, but I also don't care too much. She said that was a good thing, but my coworkers might not think so, ha ha.
Anyways, seeing her was fantastic, absolutely the highlight of at least the last couple of weeks. It made me miss the people in Hokkaido and it reminded me that people you can really connect with are important.
I'm pretty beat by this tough week, so I'll end here and maybe tomorrow write again. My sister is fourteen! Woo!
