sugar crafting advice needed

To emphasisethe details I was going to dust them with icing sugar (powdered sugar for the US folks) - but I wondered if there was any way to make the powdered sugar TARDIS blue - I have the food colouring that is exactly the right shade but rather than make up some blue icing, I would like to dust them?
