Oh this looks delicious! It's summer where I'm at (I lives in NSW for a couple years as a child so I love introducing this dessert in any fashion to my fellow citizens up this way). I wonder if you could make several different sorbets and combine them - kiwi/strawberry for example.
That's a lovely idea! Kudos for spreading the good word of the pav. I remember years ago posting about pav and so many people from elsewhere had no idea what it was - growing up with it as an absolute party staple, it still shocks me when people have never heard of it.
The hard part about trying to make it up here is having to go without passion fruit juice - can't get it unless you order it on the internet and it's stinkin' expensive. Soooooo I make mine without :S I wish I knew of a comparable replacement, but alas.
Oh that's annoying. I'm personally not huge on the passionfruit component because no one sieves the seeds out and I just hate crunching on the seeds, so I've actually never made it with passionfruit.
It is one of the first deserts I taught my daughter to make. what I love about it is that it can be made ahead of time, and just dollop the topping on before you go out.
Kiwifruit sorbet sounds lovely. Kiwifruit season here at the moment and other than just eating them straight it is hard to know what to do with them. Although a tad chilly for sorbet's ;)
Oh that's so lovely. I never had anyone to teach me anything in the kitchen, so I find it so adorable when I hear of people teaching their kids how to cook things.
Yes, aside for pavlovas, I never know what to do with kiwis! A few weeks ago on MasterChef they did a challenge where they had to make a 3 course meal with kiwi as the core ingredient. The desserts weren't great, but they were really inventive with the mains. I should have paid more attention probably! It has been very chilly the last few days here as well. Being Melbourne, the weather fluctuates so much (today is bright and sunny, yesterday was pouring rain) so we usually hit on a sorbet kinda day, even in mid winter. ;)
I live in the Waikato in NZ and the weather is similar to Melbourne, one minute raining and warmish, the next -2C and frosts - ugh! You never know where you are with heating or clothes.
My Mum taught me how to bake when I was a little girl. It wasn't until I was a teenager that I cooked meals as my parents went away on business and I cooked for myself and my brother. My first love is baking and most probably will always be. :)
