i had this minor epiphany this morning about the "high caliber" of people that attend mt holyoke... i had never really bought into that idea before, nor had I really experienced it as a generalizable truth about the college.
well it's just that when i think about the philosopher-students i knew at MHC, all of them got into top schools of their choice.
think about how hard it is to get into a PhD program in philosophy.
think about the fact that everyone i knew who studied philosophy and applied to programs got in.
that's pretty tough shit. you know?
maybe it's still not true that all women at MHC are as good as that. but it seems less likely that it's not true.
