Oh the library isn't what I remembered it to be...

So, in an attempt to find a suitable place to study (my house is SO NOT, too many distractions) I decided to go to the Mid-Manhattan Library. I originally wanted to go to the library near my office, but their hours don't work with my work schedule. I haven't been to the Mid-Manhattan library since I was in high school, but what I remembered of the library was lots of college kids, and lots of books. It was nice, clean, and a vast improvement over my local library, which had a skimpy book collection. It was a library that impressed me. What I got today was nothing like what I remembered it to be when I was younger. For one thing, they search your bags before entering and leaving the library. I haven't been to the library in a long time, but I don't remember having to worry about being assaulted with a weapon before. At least searching when you leave kinda makes sense because they're trying to prevent you from stealing. Whatever. I brush that off as things have changed since I was little, and proceed to enter the library. The first floor is what I remember it to be, except for the broken escalator, but that stuff happens. I proceed to the elevator, and the elevator comes down, and out comes the Bearded Lady! I kid you not, she had a full-on beard! She also appeared to be a Bag Lady who was holding the elevator up and also was holding the other woman captive, seeing she was blocking her way out to ask her some questions, and eventually went back in the elevator, and rode it to God knows where. I finally got into another elevator, and decided to check out the 4th floor because it seemed like a place with a lot of tables. I get off at the 4th floor and it was very bleak looking. I guess I can expect that, it is a public library. What I didn't expect is to get assaulted with the smell. Why does it smell like a homeless person in here?! It does suit my studying needs, it's quiet, the have extensive hours, and has tables to spread out, but damn! :-P I probably will go there tomorrow night after work. Even if they do keep me later at work, the library closes at 11pm, so I will probably have at least 2 hours to get something accomplished. Let's just hope I can keep this up, wish me luck!
