The humble bundle rec
I bring the beautiful combo of charity and books!
The Humble Bundle has apparently ongoing for awhile; this round is a bundle of various ebooks that should make quite a few people on my flist prick up their ears: Neil Gaiman & David McKean's Signal to Noise, John Scalzi, Cory Doctorow etc cannot be bothered to type them out. Included if you donate above 13-something USD is a volume of xckd and two short comics from the Penny Arcade people. How it works is that you pick a sum to donate -- (I think there is a minimum, but people, this is for charity and then there is being an asshole and clearly I am not promoting the latter) and you will get these ebooks. Most of them are pdfs, but a few are in epub or .mobi formats, which I can read on my phone! Score. Suggest you hit it up soon because this offer is expiring in erm, 24 hours. I AM DEAD TO THE INTERNETS I KNOW.
In the spirit of Joseph Gordon Levitt love we went and saw Looper. It was a love collision of several genres all at once; which strangely enough meant the sci-fi angle of it was underdone but the horror movie part ramped to high a la Carrie. This is probably not a bonus, but was amused that JGL was really acting Bruce Willis. If you keep squinting like that you're going to get stuck that way!
