Great Western War

Well, the pre-war preps got kind of dramaful, as my truck decided it didn't want start, or continue to run, on Monday. Ack. But, thanks to my dad who donated heavily to the "war wagon" effort (btw, Happy Birthday, Dad!) we managed to start out only half a day later than we'd planned. Of course, that meant we hit LA just in time for rush hour traffic, but eventually, we made it. Managed to get our camp set up before dark, ate, drank, were briefly merry before falling into bed early from sheer exhaustion.

Saturday, the real fun began. I did waterbearing for a few hours, first at rapiers then at heavies. At heavies, I managed to get the bottle of pickle juice (I'll grab the pickle juice if it's at all possible, it's a) staring to be my own personal tradition and b) free entertainment. Besides, a lot of waterbearers are skeptical about it, too.) After fighting wrapped up for the day, I headed back to camp. In the few hours between fighting and feasting, I managed to grab a shower and do the blanket stitching on the neckline and wrists of my new bog dress. Go me!

Dinner was yummy (especially the braised meat and root veggies) and I made frequent use of the chapel as well. There was ceremony, singing, and much passing of bottles after the feast, and divers revelry. Later in the evening we went to Angels Middle-Earth party to see Jared and Selene; they had some MEAD at that party. :D :D :D

By the time I stumbled home, I was REALLY stumbling. (Not like I was the only one!) So I slept through the moron who came through at 3am looking for a fight. And the mosquito attack. So I guess I didn't miss much.

My sweetie managed to get me to drink enough gatorade before I went to sleep, I guess, because I didn't have a hangover in the morning. A good thing, because I had other issues *coughfemalethingiecough* in the morning. So I felt rotten enough as it was. Still, I was feeling well enough later to do a little shopping. I picked up 5 yards of trim the reverse of which would look STUNNING with purple, for a Byzantine. Also a bronze medallion from the guy with the hammer that makes custom coins, with the grail chalice on one side and the chartres labyrinth on the reverse. I would've got a coffee jug from the ceramics place, but I needed to save some gas money for the return trip.

By that time, my sweetie was done with fighting, so we went back to camp. We lazed around for a couple hours singing, eating, and procrastinating, before packing up and heading home.
