I figure I should post something here, even if not many people are reading it.
For those of you who don't know, there will be a live action Avatar: The Last Airbender movie. The first of three comes out summer 2010. Normally, I'd be excited, but the casting as it currently stands is very... Shall we say... Whitewashed?
Now, I can understand, "What's the big deal? The creators and voice actors were mostly white." However, that's missing the point when you think about it.
I feel that the fine people at
Racebending and
Aang Ain't White have made the points in a much more... Effective... Manner than I think I could, so I will just ask that you please give each of them a look.
Help stop Hollywood typecasting and racism ruin another movie adaptation of a fantasy work.
