A/N: Sorry for the delay! I've been really sick, the flu is going around bad here and of course I was the one in the family to get it! I'm not sure when the next chapter will be up, I'll post it as soon as I can, but I promise it won't be too long of a wait! Oh and I'll get to the old comments soon too. Man, playing catch up sucks! hahaha.

Ch. 15

Jensen smiled; he was completely content. He had Jared sleeping peacefully in his arms and he had his two best friends and a new good friend in the other room. Jensen had been awake for a few hours now just content to watch Jared sleep. He hadn’t heard any noise coming from the other room and he figured that the three men were probably still sleeping.

Looking down at Jared, Jensen gently ran his fingers through Jared’s hair as the young man slept on unaware. He followed the line of Jared’s arm that was resting on his chest from his shoulder down to the bandaged wrist. With a gentle caress, Jensen ran his finger over the stark white bandage. His heart sank in his chest as an image flashed through his mind of Jared dragging a knife down his arm and watching his own blood spill to the floor. Jensen didn’t know what he would have done if Jared had succeeded; he honestly couldn’t imagine his life without this man.

“I’m sorry.” Jared’s shaky voice broke through his thoughts.

Jensen looked down to discover that Jared had woken up. “For what?” Jensen asked quietly as he ran a couple fingers over Jared’s cheek.

Jared sighed, “For this.” He said as he held up his wrist.

Jensen caught the wrist and brought it up to his mouth and placed a kiss on it. “Can you tell me about it?”

Jared shrugged and turned his face further into Jensen’s chest. He was silent for a few minutes before he spoke, “It seemed like the only thing to do at the time. I didn’t want to spend my life with Josh…it was the only way I could think of to get out of it and still keep you and Chad safe.” Jared was silent for a few minutes. “I still can’t believe you came for me. He said that you all were in jail and if I didn’t marry him he would…he would…”

“Don’t worry about it. He lied.” Jensen cut in. “And of course I came for you…I love you.”

Jared pulled away from Jensen slightly so he could look him in the face. “I love you too.” He smiled slightly and leaned forward the couple of inches that separated them to brush his lips softly against Jensen’s.

Jensen brought a hand up against Jared’s head to hold him there as he kissed him. Running his tongue against Jared’s bottom lip; he slipped his tongue inside once the soft lips parted and deepened the kiss. Their tongues danced together and hands roamed all over each others bodies as the two men reconnected after being apart for so long.

Breaking apart for air, Jared leaned his head against Jensen’s. “Thank you…for coming for me…for not giving up.”

Jensen smiled and placed another kiss on Jared’s lips. “I’ll always come for you.”

Jared smiled and leaned his head back down to Jensen’s chest. He just couldn’t believe after so many years of living in hell he had found someone like Jensen to love him. He felt like the luckiest guy in the world. He knew Josh wouldn’t just give up, but he was willing to just disappear with Jensen. It was better than the alternative. Jared pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind, he didn’t want to deal with it right now; he knew he would have to later, but for now he just wanted to soak up the love that Jensen was offering.

“Hey.” Jensen’s voice broke through his thoughts. “How about we take a shower?”

Jared thought that sounded great. “Yeah.” He smiled.

Jared moved over slightly as Jensen wiggled out from underneath him. He watched Jensen stretch for a few minutes; shamelessly admiring the man’s body. He pushed the covers off himself and stood up with the intent to head to the bathroom only to find himself once again on the bed staring at the white ceiling. Huh.

“Jared?” Jensen’s worried face invaded his line of sight. “Shit. Are you okay?”

“Ummm…yeah…what happened?” he asked confused. He felt dizzy.

“I don’t know; you just fell back as soon as you stood up.” Jensen said as he grabbed Jared’s arms and pulled him into a seating position. “Are you feeling okay?” he asked as he kneeled between Jared’s legs.

Jared rubbed a hand over his face and sighed. “Yeah, just dizzy I guess.”

“You sure?” Jensen asked concerned.

Jared nodded slowly, “Yeah, it’s just a combination of the drug, the knock to the head, and the blood loss.” He reassured tiredly.

Jensen stiffened. “What knock to the head?” he angled Jared’s head down and pushed his hair around till he found a dried bloody cut near the back of his head.

Jared hesitated but decided that the truth was the best way to go. “I hit my head when Josh was trying to wrestle the letter opener away from me.” He spoke to his knees.

Jensen brought Jared’s head back up. “Letter opener?”

Jared looked at his bandaged wrist with an embarrassed flush to his face.

Jensen nodded, “Oh…how do you feel now?”

“Fine.” Jared noted. “I just got up too fast before.”

“I still have my bag out in Steve’s car, I bet my sweat pant might fit you till we can get you some of your clothes. I’ll just run out and grab it.” Jensen said as he headed for the door.

Thirty minutes later found the boys coming out of the bathroom, showered and clothed in clean clothes. Jared had a pair of Jensen’s sweat pants and a cotton t shirt that was a bit too tight on. But Jared didn’t mind, he loved the feeling of having Jensen’s clothes wrapped around him.

They had meant to take a quick shower together, but after standing under the spray with their arms wrapped around each other, they couldn’t stop their hands wandering and mapping out over each other’s bodies. That had lead to some heavy kissing and before they realized it the water had turned cold and they had to quickly clean up and get out.

But it was exactly what Jared had needed. He smiled to himself as he sat down on the end of the bed and rubbed his hair dry with a towel. A knock from the side wall startled Jared and had him noticing a door there for the first time. He was just about to ask Jensen about it when the door opened and Chad poked his head in.

“You guys up?” he asked and smiled when he saw Jared. He quickly walked across the room and pulled Jared up into a hug.

Jared returned the hug with a smile. “Chad.”

Chad pulled back slightly and looked Jared up and down. “Dude, I was worried about you. How are you feeling?”

Even though the question was asked lightly, Jared could see the real concern in his friend’s eyes. “I’m fine…really.”

Chad smirked. “Great. I feel wonderful too if you want to know; especially since I got to punch that asshole in the face yesterday. I’ve wanted to do that for a long time.”

Jared’s eyes widened. “You punched him? Chad…you shouldn’t have done that…he could…”

Chad rolled his eyes, “He can’t do shit. Besides, Jensen and Chris got a punch in first.”

Jared sighed and flopped back on to the bed. He must have really been out of it yesterday to have missed Josh getting punched three times. The bastard did deserve it and more but hearing this only made Jared more worried. He knew the punches probably pissed Josh off even more and he didn’t want Josh to have more reason to come and find them.

“It’s cool dude.” Chad sat down next to him with an arm around his shoulder. “Don’t worry. You haven’t really met Jensen’s friends yet, but man let me tell you; you don’t want to mess with them. Especially Chris, the dark haired cowboy looking one, he’s a scary mother fucker.”

Jared laughed at the serious expression on Chad’s face; even though his words did make him feel a little bit better.

Jensen had retreated to the bathroom when Chad came in giving the two friends some space to talk. He had washed his hands and fussed with his hair way longer than necessary and retreated back into the bedroom area when he could no longer justify staying in the bathroom that long. He nodded at his two friends as they came to the door and hesitated slightly before walking over to him.

“Hey. You guys get some rest?” Jensen asked as he looked away from Jared and Chad talking on the bed.

“Yeah, I feel much better after getting some sleep.” Steve smiled.

Chris nodded. “How’s your boy?”

Jensen shrugged. “I think he’ll be back to good in a few days…he’s still kind of weak and tired from everything.”

“That’s to be expected I guess.” Steve put in. “So now what?”

Jensen winced and shrugged, “Honestly, I didn’t know. My mind was so occupied with just getting Jared away from the bastard that I didn’t…I don’t really know what to do now.”

Chris sighed, “We could go to your place in LA or your ranch in Texas. You didn’t sell them when you moved, right?”

Jensen shook his head, “Nope, I just closed them up…it’s a possibility I guess…I just hate to run like this. Josh could always follow…who knows how far his influence goes. I want the bastard out of the picture for good.”

“Fuck man, why didn’t we grab the papers in Josh’s office when we were there…we could have gone to the police somewhere else…or I don’t know, used it as leverage to back off the kid or something.” Chris mused.

Steve shifted on his feet looking uncomfortable while rubbing the back of his neck. “Maybe it’s best just to get away from Florida until we can think up something better.”

Jensen sighed and nodded, “Texas it is then.” Jensen walked over to the bed sitting next to Jared when the two stopped talking and looked up at him. “Hey guys.”

“So what now?” Chad asked.

“Now we move on…I was thinking Texas for a while so we can think without having to constantly look behind us.” Jensen suggested.

Chad nodded. “Alright; but I’m hungry. I want food first…yummy food.”

Jared rolled his eyes, “Jesus Chad, you’re like a five year old child.” He joked, but food honestly sounded wonderful to Jared right now; he was so hungry.”

Jensen laughed and looked up at his two friends before looking back at Jared, “Jared, you haven’t properly met these two yet. This is Chris and Steve…I’ve told you a lot about them.”

Jared smiled up at the two men who had helped to rescue him. He was slightly embarrassed that they knew all about him and his history with Josh, but whatever he might feel he was grateful to them for being there for Jensen. “It’s nice to meet you guys under better circumstances. Saying thank you doesn’t seem to be enough in this situation…but thank you.”

Chris nodded, “It’s nothing son.”

Steve smiled, “Yeah, anyone important to Jensen is important to us.” He said as he reached out to squeeze Jared’s shoulder. “But food does sound like a good idea.”

Chris shook his head, “And this coming from the guy who doesn’t think he embodies Porthos.” He slung an arm around Steve and pulled him toward the door.

Chad was up and running outside to catch up with them. “So I’m thinking burgers…”

As Jared stood up, he turned a confused face to Jensen, “Porthos? Isn’t he one of the Musketeers?”

Jensen laughed and grabbed his duffle bag. “Yeah, I’ll tell you about it in the car.” He said as he grabbed Jared’s hand and the two lovers followed their friends out to the car.

Josh was furious, he was beyond furious. How dare they crash his wedding and take off with his fiancé. He had been so close! So close to bonding himself with the man he loved and making him his husband; but no, that green eyed pretty boy had to come in and ruin it all.

He was currently sitting in his office at his desk with a pile of birthday decorations sitting in front of him. When he had come in early this morning he had been surprised to find birthday decorations scattered all over his office. His confusion over that had quickly turned to anger when he had seen his open filing cabinet; the one that should have been locked. He had quickly searched the drawer, but his file was gone.

Josh wasn’t certain, but he was pretty sure that they had been in his office and had taken it. Josh didn’t know how exactly the four men had gotten into his office, but he was certain it was them. But that wasn’t important now; right now he needed to concentrate on getting Jared and that file back.

Josh straightened up in his chair and ran a hand through his hair; taking a deep breath. He needed to find where Jared and the others had gone; and to do that he needed to make a few phone calls.

Reaching out a hand he picked up the phone and dialed.

The five men were enjoying a late lunch at a dinner just off the highway. They had only driven about two hours from the hotel before Jensen had told them to stop somewhere to eat. He had mentioned getting a hotel around this area to Chris and Steve because he could tell Jared was still really exhausted. He did want to have him cramped in a car when he needed to get his rest to recover. Jensen figured as long as they didn’t stay in one place to long; that they would be okay and could take their time getting to Texas.

Jared was currently wedged between Chad and Jensen in the booth with Chris and Steve across from him. He leaned heavily against Jensen’s side as he stole french fries from Jensen’s plate when he wasn’t looking. He was currently listening to Chris tell embarrassing stories of Jensen.

“That’s not how it happened!” Jensen exclaimed. “You’re making shit up!”

Chris shook his head and smiled at Jared. “I’m not. Right Steve?” Chris looked to his boyfriend for support.

Steve nodded his head. “Right, that’s exactly how I remember it.”

Jensen huffed as Chris went on. “So even though Steve and I are right there telling him not to climb on this decaying tree that’s hanging over the river; Jensen here will do anything for a good picture.”

“Now you have to remember this water was so dark you couldn’t tell how deep the river was, all you could see was how fast it was flowing. But we were told it was really deep with a strong dangerous current.” Steve cut in with a smirk.

“Guys seriously, this is stupid.” Jensen tried to say.

“Shhh Jen. I think Jared wants to hear this story.” Chris claimed.

Jared laughed. “Yeah, I want to hear this story.”

“So do I, please continue.” Chad’s muffled voice came from around his burger.

“Right, this deadly looking river that Jensen was currently hanging over with his camera; well so of course once he was out near the middle of the river, the log crumbled to pieces and he started to fall toward the water. Man, you should have seen his face.” Chris laughed. “So he looses his grip and plunges into the water...”

Jared looks on with wide eyes wondering what was so funny about that.

Steve shook his head, “Okay, honestly what makes it funny is that when Jensen’s falling, Chris here looks horrified and runs across the breaking log and jumps in right on top of Jensen sending them both back down under the water. “Well they both come back up seconds later looking mortified and really embarrassed; I couldn’t tell what from until they stood up and the water barely reached their waist.”

Everyone laughed while Chris and Jensen looked slightly embarrassed.

“I wasn’t going to tell them that part.” Chris mumbled.

Jensen rubbed the back of his neck. “Apparently the really deep parts of the river were a few miles south of where we were…we just didn’t know it at the time.”

Once Jared stopped laughing, he shook his head. “Was it cold?”

Chris nodded. “Yeah, me and Jen here were freezing our asses off and all Steve could do was stand on the bank and laugh at us.”

Steve shrugged. “It was funny, what can I say.” At that point Steve’s phone started to ring in his pocket. He pulled it out and looked down at the display. “I’m just going to get this real quick.” He got up and quickly walked to the exit. Once he was outside in the parking lot, he stopped and flipped his cell phone open.

“Yeah?” Steve asked.

“I got your package.” the voice said.

“And?” Steve asked anxiously.

“It’s hot. Where are you?”

“Just outside of Miami, we stopped to get some food.” Steve replied.

“Is Jared with you?”

Steve sighed and looked behind him in the window. He could see the four men inside laughing and eating. “Yeah, he’s here. We decided to get a hotel around the area for a day or so. Jared’s really exhausted still and Jensen doesn’t want him to be in the car for long periods of time.”

“Where exactly?”

“There is a nice looking Inn here on Beckett Street; it’s nearby, I’ll persuade them to stay there.” Steve said as he paced back and forth.

“Then I guess we’ll be seeing each other soon.”

“Bye.” Steve mummbled as he flipped his cell closed. He rested his back against the wall and sighed. “Fuck, Chris is going to kill me.” He mumbled to himself before he pushed himself off the wall and walked back inside to finish his meal.
