I bought my first model airplane last week, and it came with a small model car. Both were 1/72 in scale, which makes them really tiny. They were hard to paint and the cement is kind of hard to control when you're working with such small spaces.
I haven't used the decals yet as I didn't buy a decal setting solution, so the models still look pretty bare (without their numbers and markings). It's an okay first attempt but I could've done better. Next time I'll buy a bigger model so I can work more details into it.
The airplane is a Fieseler Fi-156 Storch, which was used by the Germans in WW2 as a recon plane that was heavily used throughout Europe and North Africa. I didn't paint the German or African version, but painted the Swiss version instead. Cause, who doesn't love the Swiss with their cheese, chocolates, neutrality, and Dadaism.
Plus, the German version of the plane was the one which rescued Italian dictator Benito Mussolini. So I didn't really want that.
The model car I got along with the Storch was a Kubelwagen, which was built by Porche and Volkswagen in the same period.
Since it's from Volkswagen, the Beetle served as the basis of this vehicle, which was ordered by Hitler himself, which makes me feel weird. If you want to see the original Kubelwagen,

It proved to be harder to paint than the Storch, because it was much smaller. I actually broke off one part and didn't get to place it on the vehicle.
I made the paint on this one look a bit weathered, so it looks like it was part of the war and not just something you find in a museum.
Making these models ate up my time. I wasn't able to work between Monday and Wednesday as I was just working on these. Because of what happened, I think I'll only buy model airplanes once a month and buy them on a weekend. (Cause it wouldn't work just to buy them and store them to model them later. I'll be obsessing about them until I get the building started.)
I can't wait til next month when I build my next model
I hope I can find a biplane.
