Middle Son, George, checked-in today. He tells me that he is at 160K. That is to say, he is 160 K West of Ramaadi, at an old water pumping installation; which has been converted to accommodate an Iraqi Police Station. He was in Ramaadi for the day and therefore had internet access. The FOB 160K does not have regular internet access, showers, or a D-Fac. He said the chow is terrible, but did not elaborate.
The water pumping station was shut down 20 years ago, by their government. Why? Who Knows. Well, G doesn't, anyway. We are not currently trying to re-start it because it would cost too much. I guess 100+ BILLION Dollars doesn't buy much these days, eh?
So, as relieved as I am, to have heard from him......now I know that he is with a contingent that is guarding an Iraqi Police station (Isn't that where most of the attacks are happening?) and is often on Transport Escort details between there and Ramaadi. (Can you say IED?) GREAT.
