The Pianist, 2002. Dir. Roman POLANSKI, starring Adrien BRODY, Thomas KRETSCHMANN.
Quiet film, the story of Władysław Szpilman - a Jewish-Polish pianist who survived the Holocaust. Not enough Chopin on the soundtrack! I rather liked how quiet and understated it was - really no great heroics here. People trying to survive, and surviving by luck, wits, and will power. Very matter of fact, but I'm not sure that's a bad thing. No easy clear lines here, and it worked for me as a film.
