I want to like Ianto/Jack. I really, really do want to like Ianto/Jack. I like their on screen dynamic early on. I like the way they play off each other in Combat. I like Ianto handing Jack his coat on the way out the door. I like the way Jack's impressed by Ianto getting a signal out in They keep killing Susie.
I like Jack (oh come on, who doesn't).
I like Ianto (because I think he might be the most quietly vicious of all of Torchwood -including Jack - and I admire love that)
I really dislike a lot, (fortunately not all)of what I've seen of fandom interperation of Jack/Ianto.
I really dislike schmoopy, happy, romantic loving Jack/Ianto. I read these and suspect that I am not watching the same show as other people.
Yes, something happened behind the scenes between Cyberwoman and They Keep Killing Susie that, apparently, enabled/encouraged/something Jack and Ianto to begin a sexual relationship. Not physically, that could be as easy as 'aliens made us do it' and then it was just too damned easy to continue. But to go from Ianto's apparent and stated willingness to watch Jack "Suffer and die" to double-entendres about stopwatches, something must have happened. But I don't think it involved roses and dancing and romantic moonlight walks along Cardiff Bay.
