Mom's still in surgery.  acorn_destroys and I have left though.  Neither one of us handles hospitals well and the press of the family and the total lack of emotion was getting to us.   I should be used to it by now, but seeing people who are obviously upset fighting back tears or avoiding contact with one another still seems wrong.  Somehow I grew up thinking that it's not okay to cry.  acorn_destroys has picked that up too.  I know we're going to catch a lot of flack from the family for leaving, but we had to do what was best for us.

I know Mom understands.
