Damduk and Sujini (Part II)

Mar 15, 2008 11:39

And so here I continue with my Damduk/Sujini shippy post :) I wanted to list all the reasons why I love them together, but last night
kaoko_cow and I were fangirling over Sujini and The Legend in general, and she made an interesting comment when asked which was her favourite Damduk/Sujni scene: "Actually I'm happy when they're both on screen together" ^^ Heee...so true! Hence I am just going to mainline the scenes that I love, and my take on each of them :)

Let's start where we left off in my first post here, Damduk had just seen Kiha again in the Temple of Oracle, and that's when he finally decided to completely forget about her and put behind any hope that she was ever going to be his ally. YES. That very same night, General Heuk Gae (Julno Chief) proposed that he will adopt Sujini. And for what reason? Because he had promised the late King (Damduk's father) that he will provide a mistress/wife for him. YES. So by adopting Sujini, he would offer her (as his adopted daughter) to be his wife. Eeeeeee! Unfortunately when the Hyun Ko (Guh Mool Elder) hears this, he becomes mortified for he worries that Sujini, who the Guh Mool people have suspected to be the Black Phoenix all along, would give birth to a baby and thus recreating the chaos that happened during Lord Hwanwoong's time.

When told the story, Sujini couldn't believe it. Even after having been rescued by Damduk from the Gwanmoo (?) fortress single handedly by Damduk (*squeeeee*), she still didn't believe that Damduk would have feelings for her.

Apparently distressed at hearing the news, she goes off drinking in the hall where the elders usually meet. Damduk enters, and not wanting to be seen, Sujini quickly hides behind one of the poles. Damduk notices of course :)

And she comes out. Her behaviour here is really not the cheerful Sujini at all. Damduk thinks it is because General Heuk Gae had wanted to adopt her (oh Damduk, if only you knew better!).

And he teases her refusing the offer... and she lamely tries to respond to his teasing :)

Question: Why do you think Damduk means by asking her "Did you dislike the offer so much?"

And he asks Sujini to sit beside him and share the wine. Seriously, I have not seen 1 scene where Damduk has shared his wine glass/jar with anyone except Sujini. I love that he is so comfortable with her!

And Sujini tries to pass the awkward moments (and so completely fails to hide her fuzzy state of emotions, LOL).

***SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE***
I really think in a way that this is Damduk confessing his feelings for her.

And the way that he said "You don't like it?" was like asking for confirmation/assurance from Sujini that she felt the same way.

And Sujini tries to find out how Damduk felt when knowing that Heuk Gae wanted to adopt her, considering what it implies :)

And there was a pause from Damduk. And that made Sujini mad :D

*cough* I loved that she choked on her drink hearing Damduk say "Grateful?"

Question: What in the world did Damduk mean by being 'regretful'????

And sad..??? WHAT? I don't get it.

Question: And yeah, again, what did he mean by saying "I wonder if you know that I feel regretful even now?" Dude. That part I just don't understand. Loved how earnestly Sujini was looking at him, listening to his every word.

And the moments just passed casually, comfortably, drinking together *sigh*

And when she was drinking, he suddenly came up to her, put his arms around her as if he meant to hug, and eeeeeeeeee! So much warmth in this scene.

*thud* Love the stare. How can you not tell how much they adore each other?

After Sujini realises that she could, after all, be the Black Phoenix (she'd just lost control over herself when confronting Kiha, where she could also control fire trying to kill Kiha), she decided to leave the Guh Mool clan, and basically be far away from Damduk so that she wouldn't harm him and make him kill her (as did Lord Hwanwoong to Sae Oh, whom she reincarnated). Another fave scene of mine *sigh*

Loved the surprised expression on Damduk's face :)

And the fact that Sujini was shy about wearing something so completely different to her usual unrefined apparel.

And since he hasn't seen her for a couple of days (when Sujini went to Guh Mool village), he is so happy. Just look at that grin.

And Sujini is still so mellow, unable to say much.

Damduk realises that something is wrong. "It's funny when you don't say anything."

Aaaaaaaaaaw. And she is holding on to him like dear life, knowing that it will be their last encounter.

*thud*

I adored this "Noona, you can't grab a king from behind." Damduk would not let anyone else, and I mean ANYONE, hug him and touch him like that. Only Sujini *sigh*

And she decides to return the vial to him *weep*

Then confesses that the reason she wore the kimono (?) was because she wanted him to remember her as someone pretty. *kyaaaaa*

Damduk just looks at her earnestly.

He definitely senses something is wrong but can't understand what.

*thud* Again, Damduk, you kill me with those words. So. Much. Love.

Sujini is torn in bittersweet emotions :(

I didn't make caps, but Damduk was holding on to Sujini's hands, until Sujini had to tell him twice to let her go. And he keeps staring at her in that blissfully intense way.

And she says her parting words *tear*

Later on that night, Hyun Ko tells Damduk that Sujini has left. Far away. And it may be a very long time that they see her again. That she may not come back. Damduk got MAD. Like, seriously emotional.

He rushes to the Guh Mool village, and demanded to know where she went. When told by the Guh Mool elders that they didn't know either, he got super angry. Look how taken aback the Guh Mool elder got :D LOVE. He is showing a weak, very humane side of him.

And Chuh Roh, who got badly wounded thanks to Kiha (when he was helping Sujini confront Kiha at the Temple of Oracle) and was cared for at the Guh Mool village, witnesses this. And damn he looked pretty hot there :D

He offers to look for Sujini. And bring her back to Damduk :)

Listening to Damduk ask "Can I also assume that you are also mine?" - Chuh Roh just smiled. "How could the Jooshin ask that of me?" ^^ OF COURSE, Damduk dear!!

Chuh Roh finds Sujini eventually (loved how he was patiently waiting for her by the bridge, near the gambling areas, etc.) but returns to Damduk as per Sujini's request.

And Damduk is in pain *sigh*

I really liked how the General (next to Chuh Roh) instinctively knew that Damduk needed time alone to get his emotions together.

2 years later. Damduk comes across the village at which Sujini was staying. Sujini watches as Chuh Roh and Damduk shared drinks together. As a side note, I thought it was rather 'err' for guys to be sharing drinks from the same jar. But I am totally ignoring it. Chuh Roh was accompanying Damduk because he remembered Sujini telling him that Damduk is often lonely, so keep him company and drink together with him :D Aaaaaw. I love that Chuh Roh is so loyal to Sujini.

That expression. Breaks my heart. Lee Ji Ah is so amazingly different with short and long hair. Still so beautiful either way.

And in the 23rd episode (second last ep), Damduk finally found a lead to Sujini. He overheard an ex-Goguryeo citizen (now living in a different town) say that he met Sujini along the way. And Damduk + Chuh Roh immediately rush to the place that was referred to. Love the shot of the horses.

But they got there too late. Sujini had already left! Chuh Roh encourages Damduk to search for Sujini as she must still be close by. Thus Damduk rides all the way by himself.

And he finds her! *SQUEEEEEEEEEEE* Before hastily approaching her, he sees that there is a child. He looks long at the child before going to Sujini.

Sujini is not very suprised at being found. She only has a sad look on her face. Perhaps in the one hand glad to be found by Damduk, but on the other hand terrified of the possibility of hurting him.

Damduk tries to make things as normal as possible. Heh. As if :D

And all the whle Sujini is just quietly watching him. Knowing that things cannot be. Desperate to try and get away for the sake of protecting him.

"I will never let you go again" ***faints***

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! He is freely confessing his feelings to her. FINALLY ^^

***dies***

He decides to leave. But no! He stops in his tracks...

...and quickly returns. He had to convince her to stay. And he embraces her...

...and tells her that he will be her shield. GOD I LOVE THIS.

So touching. They both drown in the moment.

Sujini obviously agreed to return with Damduk. And Jumuchi!! He was so excited that Sujini was finally found. And look at that priceless grin of Damduk's :D

LOL.

And we see Chuh Roh. Oh handsome Chuh Roh. Sujini looks at him knowingly :) I loved that Chuh Roh has such a strong bond with Sujini, that he can feel her presence anywhere, anytime.

Very adorable scenes with the little boy. If only Damduk knew it was his own child.

And I loved that Damduk was questioning about Sujini through the little boy. He is surprised that Sujini no longer drinks :D

Aaaaaaaaaaaaw :)

So, so cute.

And we come to the very last scene, of the very last ep. The battle with Hwachun Elder. Kiha has gone off in fire. And Damduk shields Sujini. They look at each other for a long time.

And he makes the heartbreaking decision to leave this world.

Sujini is in tears. Damduk takes one look at her (which reminds me of the way Lord Hwanwoong was looking at Sae Oh before he had to kill her)

And that is it. I was very pissed off and unsatisfied at the ending at first. But then I realised that it was the best thing for all concerned. After all, it was implied that Damduk later returned to reunite the Jooshin Land. Hence he would have returned to Sujini's side and raised his son with her. I choose to believe that Kiha died, so there's no odd complications in Sujini being with Damduk, and also in taking care of Kiha/Damduk's child :) In fact, it only makes sense for Sujini to be taking care of her own sister's child.

Considering I've made over 300 caps of Damduk/Sujini, you now know the extent of my obsession :D *sigh* Damduk/Sujini, I love you both entirely too much.
