Sprig Muslin, Sprout, and The Clique

17. Sprig Muslin. First sentence: "Mrs Wetherby was delighted to receive a morning call from her only surviving brother, but for the first half hour of his visit she was granted no opportunity to do more than exchange a few commonplaces with him over the heads of her vociferous offspring."

Written by Georgette Heyer

Some points:
- borrowed from lpl (B)
- This is a fun fast read. Amanda is a brat but entertaining. As long as the main characters don't mind, who am I to complain?
- She does grow up, though.
- Fun fast read.
- There is a timely piece on Heyer vs. Austen from sartorias here

Bottom line, reread? sure. Recommend? If you like light-hearted Regency romance.

18a . 2 volumes of Seed of Love (スプラウト - Sprout).

From Soleil

Some points:
- Loosely translated:
Vol 1: Many friends, an older boyfriend, Miku has everything you need to spend his first year in high school without any hassle. Except that one day his father told her point blank that he decided to open a boarding house ... Here is a story where the loves of adolescence intersect and never go as it should!
Vol 2: Miku thought she had a golden adolescence rather, its tranquility is disturbed as yet and as residents arrive. Her relationship with Kataoka also suffers and she ends up pouring all her pent-up anger on Sohei. It is no coincidence as it begins to realize her feelings for him. After long wondered, then resigned, Miku decides to confess to Kataoka she no longer knows where she is ...
- So far so good, it doesn't have drama yet. There are 6 main young characters in the series, and 4 live at Miku's house since her parents are now running a boarding house for students (high school and college).
- Miku seems to be a go with a flow kind of girl. She only said yes to her boyfriend because he had asked her not because she had a crush on him or anything.
- I will proceed with caution by getting the next 2 volumes to see if I like them before continue.
- It's a medium series with 7 volumes complete.
- I like the characters and their interactions, however, if it becomes a crying fest, I may drop it.

Bottom line, on the fence.

18b. 1 volume of The Clique.

Story by Lisi Harrison and Art by Yishan Li

From Yen website
Claire Lyons is the new girl at Octavian Country Day School, an exclusive private school in Westchester County, New York. But Claire is totally unprepared for the social (and fashion) demands of her new classmates. To make matters worse, Claire’s family is living in the guesthouse of one Massie Block, the queen supreme of her new school! And Massie couldn’t be less thrilled with the new squatter on her family’s estate. Does Claire have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the “it” girl in her school?

Some points:
- borrowed from LPL (B) not sure if this is part of a series or stand alone volume.
- There is a series of chapter books, though. I'm not interested with this so much.

Bottom line, no opinions.

Rambling: VIZMedia's twitter last tuesday: "Shojo Tuesday- Which title would you like to see next in a 3-in-1 edition?"
I'd want Basara and Boys Over Flowers. I'd get again From Far Away just because I really like the series. But all three didn't seem to be very popular for Viz when they were published.
