I prefer the covers chosen for the French edition of Cat Street. There's more colour, and more picture to look at... But it's nice that they included the original on the back cover too! Enjoy reading :D

I'm not sure which covers I like better. The Japanese covers do show the serious mood of the series, the French ones are definitely nicer. I also thought it was interesting that author drew new covers for the French volumes or maybe the drawing are for the inside flap, you know. And the Japanese covers are different from her other 2 series Boys Over Flowers and Tiger and Wolf which are more colorful and vibrant.

I thought maybe the new covers used colour art created for the original magazine serialization-did those illustrations show up in b/w anywhere in the books? Like for a chapter title-page or something...

you're right, the cover of volume 1 is the title page for the first chapter :) I should have paid more attention to title page.
