Kyaaaaaaaaaaa, Yamaguchi Miyuki! I bought the last volume of this series but none of the rest, and I haven't looked at it because I don't want to spoil myself. (so I'm not sure what the point of having it is, but... ^^; ) I've read the first couple volumes via scans too. Maybe I'll pick up the rest soon, since now I have someone to talk about it with!!
I'm think you may have part of it, so I warn you just in case - it turned out it was a good idea :) I also picked up another series of her 2 volumes bunko: Viehmannin wa Utau, am waiting for them to arrive before writing about that series. I like it so much that I pick up this series as a result :) I spent the whole last week looking at the 9 volumes trying to guess the story! I can't wait until you have the series. Do you have her illustration "Fairy Note"? I kind of want to get it but it seems to be oop.
Viehmannin wa Utau was the first series of hers I read! I love it to bits!! I don't think I ever finished though. *adds more books to the to-buy list* Thank you again, by the way, for mentioning Kino's free shipping deal on Friday :D I don't have either of her (two?) artbooks, but would looooove them. Maybe they'll show up on Akadot one of these days. Or I'll give in and buy 'em off Ebay...
"(two?) artbooks," Two? I'd like to have the Fairy Note. I've requested and ordered Viehmannin from cdjapan :) No problem about info on kino, you've passed other info to me all the time :) I may get something from kino on friday, between that and viz sale at rs, my pocketbook will cry. Have you read "Tussie Mussies"? The icon looks cute.
Her other artbook that I know of is called Congratulation. It seems like it's got a lot of art from some of her earlier works (including Viehmannin).
Ooh yeah, the Viz sale! I haven't made an order yet but I definitely will :D If you preorder stuff, then your pocketbook won't have to cry until a few months from now!
I haven't read Tussie yet; I believe it's focused on Sylvie (from Viehmannin), so I wasn't quite as interested because I like Julius better ^^;; But I'm sure it's great too, of course!! I think I like Tussie's cover illustrations best of any of her series though. They all seem so storybook-ish!
I'm also interested in checking out Harutsuge Komachi, since the covers remind me of Kaze Hikaru, which I've lately been obsessing again. Really, I just want the Complete Works of Yamaguchi Miyuki on my shelf, haha.
(by the way, why did you choose to use the katakana spelling of the characters' names for Innocent Dragon? just curious.)
"so I wasn't quite as interested because I like Julius better" oh, me, too. I like Julius a lot :) I also like the covers of the bunko, too.
"Harutsuge Komachi" wow, that's so pretty, but aren't most of her books oop? So it's sequel to Viehmannin or spin-off?
"South Prince, North Princess" is hilarious. I can't find a copy. Maybe bookoff!
"why did you choose to use the katakana spelling of the characters' names for Innocent Dragon?" Because that's how their names are spelled in the books, and I'm not sure if I should use Lamkha (as the translation) or Ramuka so ...
Harutsuge Komachi isn't related to her other works, I'm pretty sure. It's got a historic-Japan setting.
South/North is hilarious, yes :D I hadn't noticed the out-of-print status of most of her books. That's so sad!! I may see if CDJapan can get some of them anyway, or maybe someday I'll get rich and order from Amazon JP (almost all her books have used copies available direct from Amazon, even the artbooks!)
oops I meant that Tussie is a sequel/spin-off of Viehmannin :) - Maybe Julius/Rina make an appearance. Oh you're right, amazon.jp does have some used copies. Let me know if CD japan can get any of her book. Thanks in advance :)
