Wait, the translator switched? I thought it was all the same guy... yeah, Tim Rogers is listed as translator/adaptor for all 6 volumes I have. There was a change in editors, though-Ed Chavez was an editor for vol 2-5.

I was confused the first few times I read the earlier volumes, but I stuck with it because of Sean's posts too. I do like it a lot now :D It keeps getting more and more interesting. I would definitely love to read more of Shigeru Takao's work!!

"Wait, the translator switched?"
Eh, my bad, for some reason, I thought Sheldon Drzka was the translator for the first 3. Sorry about that. Why did he change "Shou" to "Shogo" though?

Yeah, I like the last 4 volumes better than the first 2. I'm thinking that Shinobu's is a body double or something like that - remember the panel after Shou opened the locked door?

Hm, Shou to Shogo... I don't remember noticing ^^; I think some characters call him Shou and some call him Shougo (the u is sometimes left out in english spelling of japanese names), though, so it might just depend who was talking to him.

Body double? I don't remember this part either... which volume was it?

When will volume 9 be out? That is the big mystery... 8 came out almost a year ago and 9 is nowhere to be seen, according to Amazon. I'm kinda annoyed with DelRey right now. But I'm happy you're enjoying the series! Reading over your brief list of points reminded me of some stories I'd forgotten. Hee hee, such a silly series.

"such a silly series."
It is, I used to consider it just another version of Ouran High School Host Club, you know. Reading these 3 volumes gave me different opinions :) The author was just having fun with it.

Me, too. Isn't the series complete in Japan, too? There are 2 series that seem to be on hiatus even though they both are complete in Japan, this one and Nodame Cantabile. I wonder if it's the license issue or they don't sell well.

Yeah, the parallels between Hockey Club and Host Club are pretty obvious at a glance. But I do think both authors have their own style of playing with the genre. Hatori Bisco pokes fun while still giving readers character growth and romance and that kind of stuff that they expect/want. Morinaga-sensei's approach is nonsensical and crazy and she doesn't seem to care what her readers want the main characters to do. I love them both :D ( ... )
