Dogtown, Gloucester?

I believe some of you have explored Dogtown in Gloucester before--M and I have been thinking of doing that tomorrow, but the more websites I look at for information, the more I get a bit anxious about all the warnings that one should not go in there without a GPS and a compass.  We just want to see the boulders, no serious exploration.  Is the boulder trail pretty clear and easy to follow?

I am less anxious about the reports of werewolf activity in the area.  My name here means like the full moon, I can hold my own with werewolves ;-)
