Wow, two major-ish things in my life since my last entry, both having to do with gender. I'm transitioned at work, and I had my "coming-out ball". Both seem to have gone well. This entry is about transitioning at work. The next entry is about my coming-out ball. Two entries in the same day! Nevar!
Coming out at work was pretty pleasantly anticlimactic. The only real problem was in getting everything working with my changed username -- I was missing svn access for around a day and a half. Since there could have been a lot worse problems, I'm pretty satisfied. I got some emails congratulating me, which was nice. So far nobody has expressed dissatisfaction to me about it, though I can't guarantee they don't feel it. I have to correct people about name or pronouns a couple times a day, but I expected that one.
I wonder how many people actually followed the links to the blogs I provided as part of my coming out letter. One person mentioned that it was good to provide them in his email to me. I don't actually expect a lot of my coworkers to have read them, but it's good to be in a position to point people towards education materials I guess.
Anyway, it's good to have that bit in my life flipped to a value I like more.
