Seventy-third book started & finished in 2010: Ship Breaker by Paolo Bagicalupi (326 pp).
Was it interesting? I enjoyed the YA perspective on the environmentally-damaged earth of the future. Not quite as grim as The Wind-up Girl, but it did have its moments.
Well-written? The book felt almost snapped in half to me, the Bright Sands Beach first half being slow going, and the rest of the book flashing past.
First line: "Nailer clambered through a service duct, tugging at copper wire and yanking it free."
Would I read it again? Yes.
Keep or give away? Keep.
Would I read a sequel/further adventures? I would. There's room for a lot of stories in this world, and I plan on looking backwards to the ones already published (Pump Six and Other Stories), as well as forwards to new ones.
read a book!
