A/N: Double drabble. Set in my Ghost of a Chance ‘Verse.
Travelling with Jack throughout the universe, Ianto had already visited almost fifty planets, many of them strange, wonderful, and fascinating, a few truly spectacular, even mind-blowing, but never before had he seen one so utterly uninteresting.
He stood beside Jack, staring out across an endless, flat, featureless plain of short, greyish green grass, not a hill, or a tree, or a bush in sight, not even so much as a rocky outcrop to add some interest to the view.
“This has got to be the most boring planet in existence.” Even the spaceport behind them was dull, just a flat area of plascrete for ships to land on, a few grey, blocky warehouses with flat roofs, and a portmaster’s office that was merely a smaller version of the warehouses.
“Not everywhere can be exciting,” Jack pointed out.
“I get that, but how can anywhere be so completely devoid of anything even remotely interesting? How do the people who live here stand it?”
“Oh, no one actually lives down here, they live on the three moons or the orbiting habitations. The workers commute by shuttle every day.”
“To do what?”
“Tend the herds. The whole planet is like one big farm.”
