“Where’d you learn to pack?” Ryo grinned in open amusement as Dee struggled to squeeze his shaving kit into the mess inside his suitcase, causing something else to escape at the other end.

“I’m self-taught.” Dee glared at his lover. “Usually it works just fine. Who taught you?”

“My mom. She and dad travelled a lot, so she had a lot of practice, and all kinds of clever tricks. I could help you if you’d like.”

Part of Dee wanted to scoff, preserve his male pride, and say there was nothing wrong with the way he packed, but he could already tell there was no way he’d get his suitcase to shut. The most annoying part was that everything had fitted when he’d packed at home before the trip, even though it had been a bit of a squeeze, and now it didn’t! The few small gifts he’d bought for friends were in his carry-on luggage, so he couldn’t even blame them.

“Sure, go ahead if you think you can do any better.” Dee scooped everything out of his suitcase and dumped it on the bed, then stood back, arms folded over his chest. As his partner began sorting everything, a tiny voice at the back of Dee’s mind wondered if this was the only way he’d ever get Ryo’s hands on his underwear, then he pushed the errant thought aside and simply watched. It was astonishing.

Within fifteen minutes, Ryo had all of Dee’s clothes folded or rolled, and neatly stowed in the suitcase with room to spare.

Dee was impressed. “How’d you do that? I was watchin’ every move, but I still don’t get it!”

Ryo shrugged. “It’s just a matter of knowing the best way to fold things to maximise available space. Maybe someday I’ll teach you.”
